Before we start the formalities, something has been niggling at my memory since the meeting. Pres
Paul said there was a particular photo he did not want to see published on line. I have to admit, I
was probably distracted and didnt catch which photo he was talking about, and you know me,
always up for a challenge. So Pres Paul, can you refresh my memory? Which one was it?
En guard? or I think my shirt is making me sick too If I dont look at the camera
check out my eqpt? maybe they wont know its me!
Id have sworn I had a Pauls got my camera .Im too sexy for my
camera around my neck!

President Paul welcomed members to meeting No 751, and as there were no objections, invited
Sue Jarvis to read the Charge to Australia and Peter Jarvis to propose the Toast to (Australia, Pres
Paul?) Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Freistadt, fondly acknowledging (with a tear in
our eyes Jas), that it has been two years since the anniversary of Jasmins departure. A roster isyet to be distributed to members for the Local Club toast, so well done to Peter Jarvis for the great
toast to a real Club.
Pres Paul welcomed back one of our favourite Visiting Rotarians, Jude, who delighted the Club
with her compliments about the Changeover Jerraganda and welcomed Pres Paul into the chair.
Apologies:Chilli, Cookie, George, Anton Pemmer, Jon Wells and Alex and Vera.
Birthdays/Anniversaries:Nothing doing in our Club over this next week, but watch this space for
some right royal news!

Board meeting last night. One point raised was that we would try to start the
meeting on time which will give us the best chance of finishing on time.
Member access login. Pres Paul advised that this was an excellent tool with many
uses. He will scan and email the quick access to members.
Honorary Membership. Honorary Membership only has a life of one year. The Board unanimously
agreed to renew Alex Alexanders honorary membership.
New Member. Anton Pemmers transfer of membership has been approved and he will be inducted
into our Club next week. Antons lovely wife Rosemary will come along to the meeting forAntons
induction.
Jerrabomberra Rotary Club15 Years. Our club celebrates its 15th anniversary in Nov of this year.
Pres Paul spoke fondly of the great job done by Lydia Stevens and her committee on the 10 th
Anniversary celebration, and asked for someone to volunteer to take on the challenge. He
suggested the Sat before or after our actual birthday, which is on 18 Nov 13. Glenda Wahlert
stepped up to the mark and has a very capable committee of Jan Pettigrew, Sue Roger, Sue Jarvis
and Robert Cooke. Pres Paul suggested that the Pin designed for the 10 th anniversary which has
now become the Club pin, did not have 10 years on it, and it might be an idea to remint a special

one for the 15th Anniversary. Other than that, he will leave it to the committee to organise the
night.

District 9710 Annual District Conference. Fri 11 OctSunday 13 Oct at Club Sapphire Merimbula.
Pres Paul asked for a volunteer to organise accommodation for the weekend. Mez kindly
volunteered. How nice was that? An email to follow requesting numbers.
Rotary International Conference. As you will be aware from the email sent from the Sec, the
conference this year will be in Sydney, over the period 1 - 4 Jun. Again, Pres Paul asked for a
volunteer to look at accommodation. PPres Chris has volunteered to make initial enquiries about
accommodation, noting the email from Anton regards the apartments.
Reports: Secretary
NSTR .
Reports: Treasurer
Treas advised that half the money distributed to our charity recipients has been
cashed. Admin account is not looking too flush at the moment, however once
members have paid their Fees for the first 6 months, we will be looking a little
healthier. Treas advised that bills will be out this weekend, however on questioning from GOC
Home Command, Treas corrected himself by saying that he would complete the ironing and
vacuuming after the meeting to ensure the weekend is free for bills.
Hows it going Glenn?
Reports: Club Service:
Changes to the running of the meetings. Paul Robey advised that we will start to introduce
changes over the next two weeks in order to move the meeting along at a reasonable pace.
Guest Speaker. Although next week should technically be Guest Speaker week, the properprogram is still being developed. Paul Robey advised that in place of a guest speaker, next week
we would have two Me Talks, and asked if Bruce Miller would give one and before anyone could
say anything, Pam Spencer piped up that Terry hadnt finished his Me Talk. The Club erupted into
laughter and many a quip was heard to be said. Although not technically a member, Jude Crawford
was also asked if she might like to give a talk about her and Betty.
Remember!!! Only 10 minutes, dont make the SGT have to come the heavy!!
Suggestions. Paul also advised that he would love other ideas from Club Members on ways we can
improve our meetings.
Restaurant Meeting. The following week our meeting will be at The Kitchen. Details to follow,
however we will not meet anywhere beforehand, information will likely be via email on these
occasions.

Car Raffle. Sue had both raffle books and posters available. Please see Sue if you wish to get
either. There will be an official photo at 0930 at Bill Lilleys with the car; however rent a crowd not
needed, (note the day wasnt included?).
Showplace for the Chooks. Sue advised the Club that the Poultry people and other groups want
somewhere to show their chooks. This is serious stuff people, these chooks can be sold from
anywhere between $500-$1000.00 and they desperately need somewhere for this to occur.
If we build, the chooks will come. (and maybe Glenn will read)

Farmers Market Corner:
Well last week, Ian Wholohan pulled triple duty and did a petty outstanding job.
This week I think things went a little awry again? Was it revenge? Or just an omission?
Rotary Club of Jerrabomberra post on FB:
Doing our Rotary duty at Capital Region Farmers Market with Colin, Sue and Paul.
Now I am assuming this was posted by Cathy, and Paul and Sue were dropping off water, but where was Ian??.
Aha!! Mystery solved! Pres Paul gave Ian the morning off given him and Sue were going out there anyway. What athoughtful President.
From the Pen of Pres Paul
I gave Ian the morning off and Sue and I covered as we were taking the water out anyway.
We were able to draw on the good will and honesty of the stall holders and collect last weeks table money on top of thisweek. $80 for last week and $85 for this week. Seems that 16/17 tables a week will be the go for a while.
Water was a big hit with 2 bottles sold to meet the high demand. We can only go up from here. There are 22 bottles inthe shed with 7 packs of 24 in reserve ready for the rush in the warmer weather!!
Good job Pres, thankyou!

Comments:Guest appearance by Paul

Surgery/Medical Call: Not too sure about George, AWOL again, are you out there?
SGT Fines: The fines session this week took - $57.00. Pres Paul was going to
fine me for making the meeting run over time due to the large number of fines
this week, however who am I to turn down a really good cross fine? Such as
Glenda fining Glenn for not reading the Jerraganda. Do you believe that? He
doesnt read the Jerraganda! There may be a repeat fine here, let me work on
it.
Do I fine you again, Glenn?
Heads and Tails:Congrats to David Stevens who won one of the crappy bottles of
white wine purchased by the previous SGT.

Attendance: Thankyou David Stevens and well done for creatively reversing the
numbers to ensure we got our Port and Baileys. Attendance was 76.9%, which
was then interpreted as being 96.7% using the aforesaid formula. And continuing
to keep my prediction alive, Pres Paul is still hanging onto the PPres apron
strings and yet again the Port and Baileys was compliments of P/Pres Chris.

Joker:
Well done Anne. We are safe for yet another week. Jan Pettigrew did not draw the joker and the
shoes are coming along nicely! Total for the Joker was $40.00, which brings the current Joker
balance to $333.00, however still waiting to hear from our Treasurer that I am on the right track.
Confirmation next week pls Mr Treasury, or a gold coin fine.
Amazing Simple Home Remedies. These really work!
1. To avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables, get someone else to hold the vegetables while you
chop.2. To avoid arguments with females about lifting the toilet seat use the sink.
3. For high blood pressure sufferers, simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes thus reducing the
pressure on your veins. (Remember to use a timer.)
4. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after
you hit the snooze button.
5. If you have a bad cough, (Chilly) take a large dose of laxatives youll be afraid to cough.
6. You need only two tools in life WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesnt move and should, use the WD-40. If it
shouldnt move and does, use the duct tape.
7. If you cant fix it with a hammer, youve got an electrical problem.
DAILY THOUGHT: Some people are like slinkies not really good for anything but they bring a smile to
your face when you push them down the stairs.
Pretty funny, hey Glenn?

OUR HISTORY
In 1998 the Rotary Clubs of Queanbeyan and Queanbeyan West Rotary decided to sponsor a new Rotary Club
based in Jerrabomberra. Bill Lilley, John Snedden and Peter Jarvis from Queanbeyan West took on the joint roll of
mentor (Peter Jarvis went on to become our Charter President).
Advertising for potential members began in March 1998. After a successful campaign, the Club was chartered on
18 November 1998 with 20 members. We are an unusual club as we have a very high proportion of female Members.
Initial meetings were held at the Jerrabomberra General Storethe venue was very good until we grew in
numbers. We then moved to the Jerrabomberra Community Centre for a few years. We now meet at the
Jerrabomberra Public School Staff Room, on Thursdays (6.15 for 6.30 pm). As at 11 Jun 2013 the Club has 27 members 11 female and 16 male. Included in this are seven married couples. We also have 4 supporters of the Rotary Club.
(Charter) President Peter Jarvis ran competitions to select a name for our Club bulletin and a design for the
Club banner. There were some good and (very) bad suggestions. Pam Spencer suggested the winning bulletin name;
Jerraganda. The banner design by David Stevens was eventually selected. The design incorporates a goose and the
windmill associated with the original entrance to the estate.
'The first time I see a jogger smiling, I'll consider it.'
Please Glenn, applause not needed!!
