This proposal requests $205,500 to develop and disseminate driver safety educational materials. The project includes service learning activities for undergraduate and graduate students. NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Grant ($680,000) Submitted to Texas Tech University for internal competition, not selected to go to NSF. This proposal requests funds to purchase a jointly used Optical Topography System, which measures brain activity using 52 channels of near infrared over the entire scalp. Joint collaboration with Electrical Engineering, Health Sciences, Psychology, and TTNI.

PANIL Student Research Initiative ($79,000) Submitted to the CH Foundation toward funding one Ph.D. student, two M.B.A. students, and two undergraduate students for one year. Each student designs their own psychophysiology study, collects data, analyzes data, and presents findings at an academic conference.

NSF Science and Technology Centers Grant ($25M); This grant was a joint collaboration with Mary Baker in the College of Engineering, Michael O’Boyle in the College of Human Sciences, David Richman in the College of Education, Steven Zupancic in Speech and Learning Science at HSC, and Dominick Casadonte in Chemistry in A&S.

Request from Deque ($19,000) (a web accessibility company) in collaboration with the National Federation of the Blind to investigate brand loyalty and brand equity potential in regards to blind consumers, usability of accessible websites for blind versus sighted consumers, and user characteristics of blind consumers.

Mental Health Research Grants for Tenure-Track Assistant Professors in Texas, Hogg Foundation for Mental Health (Proposal $17,500) Title: “Consumer Vulnerability as Diathesis in Stress Among Texas Adults with Disabilities.” Submitted 1/13/2011.
