SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS:
NAIA Athletic Eligibility
The NAIA Eligibility Center, at playNAIA.org, is responsible for determining the NAIA eligibility
of first-time student –athletes. Students must have their eligibility determined by the NAIA Eligi-
bility center, and all NAIA schools are bound by the center’s decisions.
Every student interested in playing sport at NAIA colleges for the first time needs to register
online with the NAIA Eligibility Center. This applies to high school seniors and transfers from
both two– and four-year colleges.
Costs
Registration for students from the U.S. and Canada is $70. Transfer students pay $90. This is a one
-time nonrefundable registration fee and includes all services of the NAIA Eligibility Center.
The registration fee will be waived for students who demonstrated need. If you receive a fee
waiver for the ACT or SAT test or qualify for the federal free or reduced –cost lunch program,
contact your high school counselor, who can provide confirmation of your eligibility for a free
waiver to the NAIA Eligibility Center. Transfer students can qualify for a fee waiver based on re-
ceipt of a minimum of $4,500 in Federal Pell Grant funds.
Freshman Eligibility Requirements If you will graduate from a U.S. high school this spring and enroll in college this coming fall, the re-
quirements are simple. An entering freshman must:
□ Be a graduate of an accredited high school or be accepted as a regular student in good
standing as defined by the enrolling institution and
□ Meet two of the three following requirements. If as an entering freshman you do not meet
at least two of the three standards, you cannot participate in athletics for the first full year
of attendance (2 semesters, 3 quarters, or equivalent).
Must meet two of the three
1. Test Score Requirement– Achieve a minimum of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT. Tests must
be taken on a state, national or international testing date; scores must be achieved on a single
test. The SAT must be achieved on the Critical Reading and Math sections only. You must pass
the standardized test prior to the term in which you want to participate in athletics. When reg-
istering for the tests, students should indicate the NAIA core “9876” to have their scores sent
directly to the NAIA Eligibility Center.
2. High School GPA Requirement– Achieve a minimum overall high school grade point aver-
age of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. The NAIA accepts the grade point average determined by the high
school, provided it is recorded and awarded in the same manner as for every other student at
the school.
3. Class Rank Requirement– Graduate in the top half of your high school class. IF a student’s
class rank does not appear on the transcript, a signed letter from the principal or headmaster,
written on the school’s letterhead and with the school’s official seal, stating the student’s final

rate it out by centering it and making it
bold.

tion GPA if it is 3.0 or higher

1. Heading line (include title & dates)
followed by bulleted list-see Work
Experience as example.
2. Heading line (include title & dates)
followed by narrative list-see Vol-
unteer Experience as example.
Wringing About Experiences
Regardless of style, begin each phrase/
sentence/bullet with an action verb. See
the examples to the left: maintained,
coordinated, organized, participated...
Headings: The expected headings
would be: education, experience
(work or volunteer), but the others are
up to you. Use the ones that work
best. Other possibilities: skills, addi-
tional experience, related experience,
leadership experience , related course-
work, work experience, volunteer ex-
perience, etc..
General Formatting: You should have 1 inch margins, major headings (like ‘Education’) on the left, then indent with
additional information below-for example, notice how National Honor Society is lined up below St. Paul Public Library.
Use a traditional font (Times, Arial, etc.) at 12 point font size. It should all fit on one page. Remember, it needs to be
easy to read-keep it simple and organized!
Other things to remember:
Proofread, proofread, proofread!
Check for punctuation and spelling.
Check for format and style consistency.

*** Spotlight News***
Jennings Students participate in Teen Police Academy
On January 6th several Jennings School District students participated in the Teen Police Academy which
is hosted annually by the St. Louis County Police Department. Encouraged by the district, students will
attend the academy every Tuesday for 12 weeks, and will be exposed to the process involved in crime
investigation, as well as given the chance to assume the roles of the police officer, the prosecutor, and
the grand jury.
Enrollment for the academy this year has tripled over enrollment last year, due in part to recent events
in the community. Police say they hope to improve communication and build positive relationships with
students during the academy.
Congratulations
To
Malik McLemore
