What is Community Based Instruction (CBI)?
CBI is sustained and repeated instructionCBI is designed for students that need intensive
instruction in functional and daily living skills. Community is defined as the school, home and
city community environments in the location the student lives.
Community= students progress at a greater rate.
GOAL= provide a variety of hands on learning opportunities to acquire the skills to live in the world today.

Why teach in the community?The community is where students are
expected to be able to function.The community serves as authentic
experiences that cannot be adequately replicated or simulated in school or home.
Students behavior, motivation, and learning improve during CBI.
