 SNAP-ED PROGRAM ASSISTANT POSITIONS

 We are hiring two Nutrition Education Program Assistants in Jefferson County. The position begins March 7, 2016. The deadline to apply is January 3, 2016. For more information, contact the Jefferson County Extension Office at (502) 569-2344.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Area Extension Agent for the Nutrition Education Program, the person filling this position will be responsible for delivering nutrition education programs to limited resource individuals and families. Educational programs may include workshops, exhibits, presentations, and food demonstrations on topics such as basic nutrition, food security, food safety, food preservation, and food budget management. Regular duties include: recruiting and enrolling youth, individuals and families in the SNAP-Ed Program; planning and organizing the educational delivery; evaluating the programs and submitting required records including computer and web based reports promptly; and attending all training conferences.

Qualifications: High school diploma required. Possess a valid Kentucky driver’s license and dependable, insured automobile for business mileage reimbursement. To be eligible for multiple opportunities, please apply to both postings.

PIGGY BANK CONTEST

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE 4-H MISSION4‐H Youth Development Education Program creates supportive environments for culturally diverse youth and 

adults to reach their fullest potential.  In support of this mission we will: 

 Provide formal and non‐formal community‐focused experiential learning; 

• Develop skills that benefit youth throughout life; 

• Foster leadership and volunteerism in youth and adults; 

• Build internal and external partnerships for programming and funding; 

• Strengthen families and communities; and 

• Use research‐based knowledge and the land grant university system. 

One of the most important things you can learn in life is how to save money. It's the first step to getting where 

you want to be. Anyone can do it! Jefferson County youth have taken the first step towards saving by 

participating in the Piggy Bank Design Contest. The Piggy Bank Design Contest is the youth component of the 

Kentucky Saves campaign, which advocates the importance of reducing debt and building wealth. Any 

Kentucky youth attending public, private, or home school enrolled in Kindergarten through twelfth grade was 

invited to participate. Participants created a piggy bank that showcased money saved is a future brightened. 

The county winner is pictured below ‐ Kathy Zheng, 4th Grade, St. Nicholas Academy.
