JEEViKA : at a Glance

• BRLPS registered in 2006 & JEEViKA launched in October 2007. The

project has its presence in 42 blocks of 6 Districts under BRLP.

• Flood prone 13 blocks were added in 2010 under BKEFRP.

• BRLPS designated as State Rural Livelihoods Mission in April, 2011.

• State Perspective & Implementation Plan (SPIP) prepared for rolling out

NRLM in Bihar and approved from State Cabinet in Nov, 2011.

• The model of JEEViKA- BRLP approved for scaling up in the whole state

under NRLM targeting 1.25 Crore poor HHs by MoRD in Feb, 2012.

JEEViKA : Objective

Self Managed SHGs established , covering at least 80% of the target

household

At least 50% of those who have received CIF have increased income by at

least 30% of the baseline

At least 50% of SHGmembers have reducedhigh cost debts frominformal sources

JEEViKA Experience- “MGNREGA”

PHASE I Pilot Area : Bochaha, Musahari & Meenapur Muzaffarpur.

Result : Created 432810 man days for 5397 SHG members of 31 VOs receivingwage amount of Rs. 8.22 crore. Out of which ,2100 SHG members got100 days of work.

Phase II Pilot Area : Lakhnaur ( Mdh), Musahari ( Muz), Noorsarai ( Nln), Dhamdaha ( Purnia)

Implementation Status: Participated in Gram Sabha , JOB Demand Registration & JOB Card campaign organized.

Result : Around 26700 SHG Women Participated in Gram Sabha and pushed their agenda related to Land & Beneficiary Schemes, Plantation & Vermi Compost. Around 54300 schemes submitted.

JEEViKA LEARNING - “MGNREGA”

1. Demand Registration

- Village Organization will facilitate its member and ensure that demand get registered.

2. Delay in Measurement Verification

- Initially, Community Extension System will be placed (VRPs) to verify thework . Further, certain sample will be taken up for the disbursement ofpayment.

3.Delay in Wage Payment

- Bridge Finance through Village Organization(VO).

• 1500 Village Resource Person will be trained to support theimplementation of MGNREGA in the Villages of JEEViKA.

• Using new MGNREGA schemes – Poultry, Goatery, Cattle shelters, vermi-composting etc.
