Physics Questions of JEE Main 2017 are very much fundamental.

All questions are NCERT based.

14 questions are given from XIth and remaining from XIIth, thus both and have almost equal weightage and equally

important.

17% of questions paper was from Modern Physics, Semi-conductors and communication system.

Overall Physics part is easy and easily solvable.

2017 Main offline chemistry paper is easier when compare with 2016 main offline paper except for 3-4 questions.

Questions were mostly from NCERT Books. Equal Weightage for physical, organic and inorganic chemistry.

In organic chemistry 8 questions are from XIIth and 2 questions from XIth.

In Physical Chemistry 7 questions are from XIIth and 4 questions are from XIth.

In organic chemistry, 4 questions are from XIIth and 5 questions are from XIth.

Overall questions are mostly related to XIIth class topics.

Difficulty Level vs marks in %

Level of Maths is similar to previous year but little bit on lengthy side.

Students who understood that questions to skip will end up scoring better than those who do not prioritize

which questions to skip.

Probability got better weightage this time. Three questions have been asked which is against the trend (i.e. one

question from each chapter mostly)

Two questions were little bit error prone i.e. from determinant and were lengthy.

Questions from quadratic, progression, straight line, circle and probability were little bit tricky.

Two questions have come from the topics which are only in Mains but not in advanced (i.e. Height and

distance, Mathematical reasoning)

Thirteen questions were asked from 11th, sixteen questions from 12th and one question was mixed of 11th and

12th (NCERT syllabus).

Total only four questions were asked from 2-D in spite of five questions in general.

The options were not random but carefully designed. Most probable wrong answers were also included in the options,

making the questions error prone.

The question of finding radius of circle touching parabola had a mistake. One could only get the answer under obvious

assumptions, however we believe the questions will not be given as bonus.

The order of topics in which the questions were asked in Code A paper is more or less same as that of past years

making it easier for students having Code A to identify questions from particular chapters.

According to RAO IIT Faculties and experts , level of difficulty was moderate as compare to

last year. Physics was the easy sections, Chemistry being moderate and Mathematics had

few lengthy questions. Overall paper was bit lengthy as compared to 2016 Main Papers.

Expected Cutoff by RAO IIT Faculties and experts is 98 marks i.e. 27%.

Cut-off Marks to qualify for JEE Advanced 2017
