    WG 1: Towards a re-definition of EU studies?

    This WG will consider the relevance and appropriateness of European studies. Using anumber of examples, it will assess the impact and added value, both of traditionalEuropean integration studies, and of the introduction of a "European dimension" to otherareas of study, and consider how these could be improved.

    WG3: EU studies as an instrument for better governance

    This WG aims to define the needs of the different stakeholders who define or are involvedin governance questions (decision-makers, practitioners, economic players and citizens)and how they can best be met. It will discuss how an exchange of experience and bestpractise can be organised at European level and synergies can be created with a view tocreating momentum and a coordinated dynamic in this area. Central to this exchange willbe the sharing of new knowledge and tailor-made training.

    WG4 looks at the reasons for growing interest in EU studies worldwide. Do EU studiesmeet the needs of practitioners and policy-makers outside Europe? How can we improvethe effect they have? To what extent can Europe learn from the way it is perceived fromthe outside? Will a better understanding of Europe among partner countries enhance theEU's external policy?
