! !Jean Elizabeth (McLaughlin) Boyer, 89, of Erie, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center. She was born on November 13, 1924 in Wilkinsburg, PA, daughter of the late Gourley and Florence (McGregor) McLaughlin. Jean was employed at the Scott’s TG&Y as a clerk. She was a member of the Simpson – Cascade United Methodist Church and the church’s Epworth Guild. She also volunteered working at the polls on Election Day. She was an award winning baker of chocolate cakes at State Fairs. She enjoyed bowling, traveling and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan E. Boyer; two sisters, Dorothy Reefer and Anna Mary Troutman; an infant brother, Carl Gourley McLaughlin. She is survived by three daughters, Diana Caldwell ( James) of Clayton, NC, Susan Gnacinski (Gerald) of Girard and Karen Ruk (Tom Dineff ) of Natrona Heights, PA; grandchildren, Adrienne Michelle Edwards (Stephen), Logan Caldwell, Lucas Caldwell, Jeffrey Gnacinski, Bryan Ruk (Mandy) and Brandon Ruk; great grandchild, Wyatt Edwards; many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Merle E. Wood Funeral Home, Inc. friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Boulevard, with visiting hours on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and are invited to attend a funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev.
