Category Managers at Amazon have end to end responsibility of the category they have been assigned
to. Amazon strives to present its customers with the widest selection of products at the best prices –
The Category manager’s role is to bring in the relevant assortment, manage their sales negotiate terms
with the vendors.
Responsibilities Include
The successful candidate will be the business owner, with responsibility for signing the right mix of
vendors, adding unique local selection, driving traffic conversion and margin improvements while
delivering top notch customer experience. He/she must be an effective leader and communicator
working with our most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal colleagues and groups.
He or she will have strong business judgment with a track record of strong ownership values and
relationship management skills. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a start-up
business team.
Basic Qualification and Skills Required
An understanding of and passion for e-commerce.
Work experience is preferred (2 - 4.5 years).
Experience in Business, buying, Selling or finance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven negotiation skills, influencing abilities
Strong numerical and analytical aptitude
Proven experience leading cross-functional projects
Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting
deadlines

Inventory Planning Management – Amazon.in
Amazon is seeking Inventory Planners with a background in inventory or business analysis, finance or
supply-chain disciplines for our locations and our affiliate companies in India. This position is responsible
for developing and executing category level sales and inventory strategies to optimize availability and
inventory turns. In this role, you will have end to end ownership of managing inventory. You will also
build strong partnerships with vendor management, merchandising and operations teams to drive
toward common goals. To succeed in the role, you must possess the ability to operate from a company-
wide perspective and will need to encourage cross-functional and cross-business project development.
Responsibilities Include
Manage inventory, open-to-buy, inventory health, item-level forecasting, assortment planning
Participate in manufacturer and vendor reviews; drive vendor operational improvement through
measurement and process improvement
Interact with operations teams and drive efficiencies through team collaboration
Manage inbound shipments: fill rate, ASNs, operational issues, lead time
Achieve and maintain high instock rates on replenishment programs
Analyze inventory position and sku performance to determine inventory liability, determine exit
strategy for unproductive inventory
Basic Qualification and Skills Required
An understanding of and passion for e-commerce.
Work experience is preferred (2 - 4.5 years).
Experience in working with computer databases and tools such as MS-Excel
Experience in communicating and presenting to senior leadership
Experience with SQL is a strong plus
Curiosity to dig several layers deep into metrics, have an innate desire to understand key drivers and
whether they are the correct or best metrics to measure/manage a business or process
Ability to influence cross-functional teams
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation
Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast-moving environment
Exceptional interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
