Limpid, noticeably amber gold. Floral (chrysanthemum?), quince jelly nose,slightly oxidative and with some oak in the background. Retro-olfaction leaves

a mellow quince alcohol touch. Persistent finish.

Turbid, dark ruby red. Burnt, coffee, smokey notes quickly develop to somefoxy grapes and herbal (catmint, thyme, peppermint) ones. Fruity, dry,medium-acid, light-bodied wine with remarkable character and length.

Thyme-infusion springs to mind. On schists terroir, it is not classified asSaint-Chinian because the vines grow on a northern slope.

Deep ruby red. Self-confident nose of red fruit, blood, raw meat, kefta spiceblend. An overwhelming bitterness from start to mid-palate makes it difficultto appreciate it on its own, but good acidity towards the end takes the leadand provides for a decent finish.

(Too) young riesling from a granite terroir, SE slope. Amount of clay higher

than on neighbouring infamous granite GC Schlossberg though. Very pale whitegold. Not very talkative nose. Floral if a bit medicinal. Palate makes methink of halfway ripe white cherry varieties. Dry but not edgy. Apple compoteminus the sugar on the palate. "No hectic, no rush" wine, let it take its

time.

blackcurrant. Medium-bodied, medium acidity, slight bitterness, good length,assertive tannins. Blackcurrant dominates the palate, however it does so notin a fruity but in a spicy way; some nail polish. Not a bomb.

Deiss, the defender of complantation, aims at ultimately expressing a terroirwithout reference to the varietals involved. Riesling, Gewürztraminer andPinot Gris grow on the same terroir, the Grasberg (oolitic limestone, NEexposition on the top of GC Altenberg de Bergheim), and are harvested andvinified together. Medium gold. Nose of ripe pear, blood orange, beeswax, some

hydrocarbons. Yes, the palate is rich (Ricola drops, sweet cherry and citrus),

but it has outstanding acidity and INSANE length.

Since 2011, Maury sec AOC designation has been introduced to allow dry redsproduced in the same area from the same grapes used for producing sweet Maury(vin doux naturel). 80% Grenache noir, 20% 80-years old Carignan. Dark rubyred. Pleasant nose on crushed red mulberries, some dry figs, gouache. Muchless body than expected. Manifest dark beer-like bitterness in the middle andfinish.

White St-Joseph signed Gilles Flacher (according to J.L.L. one of the lessknown local producers). 60% Marsanne, 40% Roussanne. Pale gold. Nose firstbuttery, creamy, cheesecake with lemon aroma, then more on ripe 'Golden

delicious' apple scent side. The oak is only hinted at, most expressed in theempty glass. Pastry, white yoghurt, grapefruit on the palate. Dry, fat, medium acidity, high but unintrusive alc. (13,5%) Nice discovery!

Medium garnet, opaque. Fine redcurrant, sous-bois, breadcrust, marzipan,kirsch on the nose. Light-bodied cherry. Acidity-driven cranberry, pepperyfinish with a dry tannic grip. "Vaucrains" comes from "vaut rien" whichtargets the soil's infertility of the climat (clay).

Made in Niedermorschwihr (Haut-Rhin,Alsace) - village better known for A.Boxler's and Claude Weinzorn's rieslings (in particular on GC Sommerberg). Onthis wine, the latter decided to try oak barrel fermentation of a part of hisPinot Blanc. Pale straw yellow. Rather vegetal nose with a tiny hint of oak.Fatter than a standard PB from Alsace. More oak on the palate, but nothingoverdone here. Dried citrus fruit peel. A bit flat, but not bad for anexperiment.

"Versa il vino! Eccelente Marzemino!" These words from Mozart's Don Giovanniare mentioned in every article on this autochtone grape variety from Trentino.

New to me. Marzemino gentile was appreciated in the past but is now almostunknown beyond Northern Italy. What's in the glass? Deep ruby red. Nose:somehow syrah-like, pencil shavings, preserved plums out of the jar, menthol.On the palate: nail polish, at best some indefinite red fruit. Light body,

rather high acidity, light bitterness, short finish.

Wishlisted after reading a TN by KUHN! some time ago. Comes close to aBurgundy Villages from Cote de Nuits, maybe with rounder-edged body and lessstringent acidity. Good salinity. The elevage seems well-mastered as far as

the aromatics are concerned. Never tasted such a German Spaetburgunder before. Tempted to try more from the same winery- and from Kuhn's as well.

Not familiar with the region (Bierzo in NW Spain) and the grape (100% Mencia). 55 years old vines. Dark ruby. Discrete bouquet with a mix of ripeblackberries, spice, overheated wood, and a hint of vanilla. TANNIC, acid andbitter at the same time. Plus 14,5% vol. alc. which do not help matters.Drinkable but quite rough personality, desperately needs food pairing.

Chalkiness in mouth,too; it has a long finish and it did exceptionally well with roasted goosewith chestnut stuffing. Victim of storage or 2006 is not a year that you would
