• JAZZ BAND TRYOUTS: This band is open to 7-8 students competent on saxophone (alto, tenor, bari), trumpet, trombone, drum set, bass guitar, piano, flute or clarinet. This is a tryout band. All tryout materials will be handed out at the mandatory August 25 rehearsal. Tryouts will be held the mornings of Aug. 30 and Sept. 1. Band positions will be posted Sept. 5 at 3 PM. First jazz rehearsal will be Wednesday, September 13 at 7:45 AM.

• TARDY POLICY: A student who is tardy or absent more than three times in one grading period (quarter) will lose his or her position in the jazz band for the remainder of the school year.

• REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES: Jazz Band rehearses Wed. and Friday mornings from 7:45 - 8:25 AM. and performs at the Christmas concert (Dec. 1), Concert on the Green (May 18), and the jazz show (June 1). All rehearsals and performances are required.

• PRACTICE NOTE: Each jazz student may mark 30 minutes on the concert band practice sheet for each rehearsal attended.

• JAZZ COMMITMENT is for the entire school year. Participation will be terminated in the event that a student does not fulfill jazz requirements as outlined in this document.
