They were 900 in number. Of these, 200 are on the county records as criminals; 9 of her own children served an aggregate term in state prisons of 50 years; and a considerable proportion of her descendants were mentally challenged, lunatics, prostitutes, drunkards, and paupers. History records a corresponding fact: Jonathan Edwards was a man whom the Word of God had changed from sin to holiness. A record of his descendants is known. Out of 1,400 of these, 8 have been presidents of American universities; 100 have been professors; 100 have been ministers of the Gospel; 600 have been doctors; 30, judges; 25, officers in the Army and Navy; and others, mayors, senators, governors and ambassadors. The concept of sowing and reaping can apply to all parts of life. During this month of March many in our community are looking toward sowing crops in the farm lands around our community. I can guarantee you that our farmers are not planning on planting thistles to get a good crop of peanuts and cotton; no, they plant cotton and peanuts. We must also look at our lives in this same way. What we put into our lives many times determine what we will reap in our lives. God encourages us all to stay in His word, and strive to do the very best we can for His honor and glory. Yes, it all starts with salvation in Jesus Christ, and then after one accepts Christ as savior then the work begins. Let me encourage all of us to strive, this month, to maybe read our Bibles a little more, maybe show extra kindness to someone, or just ask God to open a door for us to have a greater opportunity to serve Him more. Let me conclude this with one of my favorite passages on doing life God’s way. King David began the Book of Psalms with a chapter that summarizes how to have success living in this world trying to follow God. Psalms chapter one states ,” Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Sincerely, Dr. G

“When the Fruit Is Brought Forth”

Nearly a century ago a young girl on the Hudson fell into an evil

life and the county records show the history of her descendants.

They were 900 in number. Of these, 200 are on the county

records as criminals; 9 of her own children served an aggregate

term in state prisons of 50 years; and a considerable proportion

of her descendants were mentally challenged, lunatics,

prostitutes, drunkards, and paupers. History records a

corresponding fact: Jonathan Edwards was a man whom the

Word of God had changed from sin to holiness. A record of his

descendants is known. Out of 1,400 of these, 8 have been

presidents of American universities; 100 have been professors;

100 have been ministers of the Gospel; 600 have been doctors;

30, judges; 25, officers in the Army and Navy; and others,

mayors, senators, governors and ambassadors.

The concept of sowing and reaping can apply to all parts of

life. During this month of March many in our community are

looking toward sowing crops in the farm lands around our

community. I can guarantee you that our farmers are not

planning on planting thistles to get a good crop of peanuts and

cotton; no, they plant cotton and peanuts. We must also look at

our lives in this same way. What we put into our lives many times determine what we will reap in our lives. God encourages us all to stay in His word, and

strive to do the very best we can for His honor and glory. Yes, it all starts with salvation in Jesus Christ, and then after one accepts

Christ as savior then the work begins. Let me encourage all of us to strive, this month, to maybe read our Bibles a little more,

maybe show extra kindness to someone, or just ask God to open a door for us to have a greater opportunity to serve Him more.

Let me conclude this with one of my favorite passages on doing life God’s way. King David began the Book of Psalms with a

chapter that summarizes how to have success living in this world trying to follow God. Psalms chapter one states,” Blessed is the

man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But

his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the

rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The

sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall

perish.”

Dr. G
