NoN ClASSED FIREFIGHTING SYSTEMSExternal FiFi systems with capacity less than FiFi I have no formal classification. Fire pumps are driven by dedicated diesel engines, PTO gearboxes or electric motor. A minimum of 300 m³/h unit capacity is recommended to achieve efficient firefighting.

System capacity: 600-2400 m³/h

FIREBoAT DEDICATED SYSTEMSFireboat systems are tailor made firefighting systemsdeveloped in cooperation with fire departments andnaval architects.

System capacity: 600-4500 m³/hTotal monitor capacity: up to 3900 m³/hWater throw length: up to 240 m

FIREFIGHTING I SYSTEMOne or two fire pumps installed in the engine room driven by the main engines with a step-up transmission gear, or using electric motors. The pump(s) provides water for two fire monitors and an external water spray system installed for self protection.

Optional foam system can be included

System capacity: 2700-3400 m³/hTotal monitor capacity: 2400 m³/hWater throw length: 120 m

FIREFIGHTING II AND III SYSTEMMinimum two fire pumps driven by the main engines with a step-up gear or using electric motors. Depending on class society two, three or four monitors are required for long range fire fighting. Optional external water spray system can be installed to obtain FiFi II + I class notification.

System capacity: 7200-9600 m³/hTotal monitor capacity: 9600 m³/hWater throw length: 150 m-180 m

Due to the Jason Monitors favourable single flow design, a throw length far in excess of the requirement is achieved.

DISPERSANT SYSTEMSJason Engineering AS is today the leading company in design and manufacturer of dispersant spraying systems. Spraying booms and valves are remote controlled from the bridge. Speed range up to 18 knots, wind velocity up to 20m/sec and total spray width up to 30 meters. These systems are designed for spraying neat dispersant onto oil slick on the sea surface. It is intended for installation and use on board offshore supply/stand-by vessels or large ocean going tugs.

Booms, nozzles, manifold, couplings are made from high grade stainless steel or other seawater resistant materials

Light weight design for easy and manual mobilization

Quick couplings for all hose connections. Remote controlled spray nozzle flow/pressure

16 17

CoNTAINERIzED HYDRAulIC DISPERSANT SYSTEM A new dispersant boat application prototype for use under Arctic and ice-infested areas has been designed and constructed through a co-operation project between Jason Engineering and SINTEF. This system allows a flexible application between ice floes, is easily transportable, protected from icing (containerized), and can be operated from a wide range of vessels.

A great advantage of this system compared to conventional vessel-mounted spray arms is the ability to manoeuvre the spray arm close to the slick and conduct more precise application avoiding wind induced drift of dispersant and reducing loss of dispersant due to the spraying over the ice floes.

Dispersant spraying using the new manoeuvrable hydraulic -based spray arm system indicating an effectiveness of more than 90%.

Developed by

System design and verification in close cooperation with SINTEF Materials and Chemistry in Trondheim - NoRWAY developed according to the NoFo standard.

DISPERSANT SYSTEMS Dispersing oil spills by applying a spray of chemicals on the spill surface. Easy to store and handle booms. Horizontal or vertical hinged, sectioned on request. Spray nozzles for neat dispersant.

DSP-85-3-60Total capacity is approx. 60 l/min trough two booms each fitted with down-tube hoses and three flat jet type spray nozzles.

The dispersant tank is normally a ship structure tank internally coated with an epoxy paint system with proper protection against corrosion.

Dispersant pump is a small vertical mounted multistage centrifugal pump, electric motor driven with a power consumption of approx. 1 kW.

As standard a wall mounting type starter cabinet is included. The cabinet is equipped with terminals make it possible to fit remote start/stop.Optionally the pump may be supplied with frequency converter making the system more flexible with regards to step less nozzle pressure and flow rate.

Pump materials is stainless steel. Jason supplied tube fitted items are made from bronze, brass or stainless steel.

DSP-S-100-9-90Single spray boom system with a boom length of ten meter and nine spray nozzels which are screw fitted into sockets in the boom. As standard the boom is supplied with nozzels for diluted dispersant only. The system is equipped with an ejector type proportioner which mixes seawater and dispersant fluid with water supply from a general service pump. Dosage of neat dispersant into the seawater is adjusted through the proportioner throttle valve. The pump pressure may also be adjusted with a relief valve.

Weight: 90 kg (approx.)Length: 10 metersNumber of nozzles: 9Boom diameter: ND 50

DSP-TW-2P-HHydraulic twin boom system with two dispersant pumps

18 19

The system is in accordance with NOFO standard and recommendations. System design and verification in close cooperation with SINTEF Materials and Chemistry in Trondheim - NORWAY.

DSP-TW-1P/2P-HHeight between the sea surface and the manifold should be approx. 3m and can easily be adjusted up and down by means of two ropes, jagging wheels and two small hydraulic motor driven winches (explosion proof system).

Soft hoses with quick couplings act as dispersant supply line from the boom down to the nozzle manifold. At the manifold inlet a specially designed pressure pilot operated check valve is fitted. This valve has also an integrated hose swivel coupling in order to prevent the supply hoses from twisting.

The dispersant spray nozzles are flat jet type with spray angle of approx. 45 degrees. The flowrate is 2.5-5 ltr/min per nozzle in one of the twin manifolds and 10 ltr/min in the other one (at 2 bar inlet pressure).

The boom is fitted with “hook-on” type hinges for quick and easy erection.

Weight of the boom exclude the two small hydraulic motor driven winches is approx. 60 kg.

Dispersant pumps are electric motor driven multistage centrifugal non-selfpriming type with all “wet parts” in stainless steel.

Electric power required is 3-4 kw. The pump motor speed is controlled with frequency converter. Pump speed/pressure is remote operated by means of a small bridge mounted control panel with two push buttons and a digital display.

The complete dispersant spray system is remote controlled by means of a control cabinet, shut-off valves with hydraulic actuator and two small hydraulic motor driven winches on each boom in order to adjust distance between sea surface and the nozzle manifold.

A small hydraulic power unit with all necessary control valves is included and should be installed below deck in a safe protected area.

The valve actuators have sensors for indication of open/closed position.A portable control panel with flexible cable and plug in connector is included. It has switches for operation of the two winches and valves plus indicating light for valve position.

As an option the system can be supplied with wireless remote control.

DSP-TW-2P-H-XB It is intended for installation and use onboard offshore supply/stand-by vessels with X-BOW design or other vessels with covered foredeck.

Support arms for the nozzle manifold are mounted indoor and as near the bow as possible in order to apply dispersant on undisturbed oil in front of the bow wave.

This make the dispersant operation far more efficient than with the booms located midship of the vessel.

With bow mounted spray booms the vessel can apply dispersant on oil spill at a speed range up to 15 knots and total spray width of approx. 28m.

The support arm (stb. & port) will be sliding out through a hatch in the ship side.

Nozzle manifold with supply hoses, ropes etc. are ready mounted safely “indoor”. The complete assembly by means of a hydraulic operated mechanism is then brought out and in position for the dispersing operation.

Booms, nozzles, manifold, couplings are made from high grade stainless steel Minimum weight for easy and manual mobilization De-icing equipment included Wireless remote controlled
