It was described by Gautama Buddha in his teachings of healing, meditation and higher consciousness. One of his scrolls was found by the Japanese mystic Dr Mikao Usui - just over a century ago - the Buddha Healing Scroll of Avlokiteshsvara (Bodhisatva of Healing and Compassion). Usui Sensei then meditated upon this method of higher consciousness and rediscovered this wonderful spiritual healing method - which he later called Reiki - and taught it within its original Buddhist context and philosophy.
