Japan is located east of Korea and Russia, between the sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The capital of Japan is Tokyo, the emperor of Japan is Akihito, the population in Japan was 127.6 million during 2012. The flag of Japan is a white rectangle with a red disk ( representing the sun ) in the middle.

Land Marks & Topography

Japan’s two major land marks are Mt Fuji and Tokyo. Tokyo is in the middle of Japan on the east side, Mt Fuji is just under it.

Well Known For

Japan is well known for electronics, Suzuki music, origami, sushi, Sumo, kimonos, tsunamis, earthquakes, cars, motorbikes and Manga.

Two years ago ( 2011 ) in Japan there was a massive tsunami, they were not prepared for it, therefore they did not have all the protection they needed. Japan was using nuclear power then, so the tsunami broke through the barriers and destroyed the nuclear power station.

Even today it is still leaking into the ocean and some people can’t live where they used to live.

Now, the environment in that area is in a terrible state, but in other areas the environment is reasonable.

Clothes

The traditional dress in Japan is a kimono. The typical dress for a child an adult in Japan is the kind of clothing we wear, and like us, at school children wear a school uniform.
