Many commented how thoroughly they enjoyed the classical selections performed by the professional musicians of the Superstition Strings Quartet. Nearly 180 attendees including residents, staff, and community members joined in with great enthusiasm for the evening’s entertainment and traditional holiday carol sing-a-longs. We couldn’t have been more blessed with the joyous mood shared by all. “Good cheer to all” is not just a saying, it’s real and it’s alive at Majestic Rim. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to our amazing Dining Services team! Kathy and Cyndi created a dessert buffet that exceeded our imagination. Truly a gift of love (and sugar) that we will remember for days and months to come!
Many blessings to you in 2017, Majestic Rim Retirement Living
Guided by goodness, loyalty, faith, and fun
coordinate functions, share comments and report income and expenses from donations. The donations received throughout the year offset the costs of most events, like ice cream socials, barbeque pot lucks, birthday parties, summer gatherings, Super Bowl parties, etc. Passing the baton is Past-President, Jay Martell to newly elected Council President Delbert Royer (shown above). Other board members include Dick Reintjes, Treasurer and Priscilla Buss, Secretary. We encourage all residents to attend the monthly meetings to share personal interests and build a community that inspires wellness, camaraderie and most importantly, fun.
That the Resident Council organizes social events and activities each month? Residents offer suggestions,

Majestic Rim Retirement Living is a community of elders wanting to lead an active and energetic lifestyle. The independent choice of retirement living is attractive for many reasons. Some may want freedom from household chores, yet others like the all-inclusive amenities and the resort style concierge services. However, they all agree the social events, resident parties and let’s not forget, fabulous meals. The Resident Christmas Dinner party was an event we can’t overlook. Fun times with a great steak dinner, a winning combination!
Look us up on Facebook to see the rest of the evening’s photo
collection and the stealing of White Elephant gifts! Yes, they look sweet, but we are talking chocolates here!
Reminisce “Our Moments” >>>
“Write it on your heart that every day is the
best day in the year.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
For one small town of Eastover, NC a three-foot tall, 30-pound wooden flea is dropped to commemorate the New Year in their community.
Ball Drop in Times Square, and It’s not the only thing dropping.
Healthy Choices
Winter is the time of year that we may not exercise or continue our walking regiment as the weather gets colder. But I want to remind you that our bodies need ample water intake regardless of your activity level. As the air becomes dry, the moisture in your skin is absorbed as part of your body’s daily intake. Staying hydrated will keep joints lubricated, skin hydrated and most importantly, reduce the chances of urinary tract infections (UTI).
Adults over the age of 75 don’t drink nearly enough water according to the National Institute of Aging. Your water intake should include eight 8-oz glasses of water a day, even if you are not thirsty. Drink a full glass of water when taking any medications to assure you are hydrating on a regular schedule. Drink up!

In the 1920’s the town was known as Flea Hill due to the sandy area and the infestation of fleas. Nearly a century later and no fleas in sight, Mayor McLaurin wanted a symbol that was “unique and a bit quirky.” I would say they achieved their goal! But, that’s not all. Among items dropped as a symbol of the new year include a conch shell, peach, disco ball, crab, sardine, muskrat, hockey puck, Gibson guitar, pickle, acorn, sausage, flying pig, beaver, pear, star, anchor, beer barrel, wooden cigar, golf ball and a 600-pound Moon Pie. I can’t make this stuff up, as cities, towns, counties and states all have a unique history and story that leads to decades of celebrations. We hope 2017 brings love, laughter and stories to share.
