“No prophet is accepted in his own native place.

Indeed, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah when the sky

was closed for three and a half years and a severe famine

spread over the entire land. It was to none of these that

Elijah was sent, but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon. Again, there were many lepers in Israel

during the time of Elisha the prophet; yet not one of them

was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian.”

(Lk 4:24-27)

The Mission Statement of Saint Jerome Staff Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom* into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, *because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed, go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” (Luke 4:16-19) The mission vision of Saint Jerome Parish Staff is fourfold: ♦ To Accompany the people of God in celebrating the Sacramental Life of the Church. ♦ To Educate God’s people in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the Teachings of the Church. ♦ To Govern the temporal goods of the Church responsibly. ♦ To Assist the Pastor in the execution of pastoral programs which include worship, healing and restoring

everything in Jesus Christ the Chief Shepherd of souls.

The realization of the Parish Mission is primarily entrusted to the Parish Priest who is, “the proper pastor of the parish entrusted to him, exercising the pastoral care of the community committed to him under the authority of the diocesan bishop in whose ministry of Christ he has been called to share, so that for that same community he carries out the functions of teaching, sanctifying and governing also with the cooperation of other presbyters or deacons and with the assistance of lay members of the Christian faithful, according to the norm of the law.” (Canon 519)

The accomplishment of the tasks entrusted to the Parish Staff should be envisioned as an assistance to the Pastor who is entrusted with the responsibility to sanctify, to teach and to govern God’s people according to the Teachings of Jesus Christ the High Priest. As members of the Parish Team, we are called by God to contribute our gifts and talents to the continuous project of God by bringing His Kingdom to the life of God’s people. The responsibility of each staff member is to care for God’s people while being compensated by people’s generosity. It is by the spirit of justice that a regularly compensated staff member always remains conscious that he or she is called to serve God’s people in the ministerial atmosphere. Ministerial Virtues

As the mission statement of Saint Jerome Parish is envisioned by the Pastor and adapted to the needs of God’s people, the following are the ministerial virtues that the Parish Team is invited to live by and promote with other staff members. ♦ Sincere Obedience to the Pastor as an act of faith to the mission of Jesus Christ. ♦ Ministerial Zeal and initiative as a conscious decision while participating in the parish ministry. ♦ Pastoral Sensitivity that exhibits care, involvement and concern to the details that are associated with order

and decorum of the workplace while team building is promoted among all members of the Parish Staff. In the end, the role of the Parish Staff is being summarized by the Gospel of Saint Luke, quoted above, as it was

fulfilled in the ministry of Jesus Christ. As ordained clergy, consecrated religious and lay leaders, we have the responsibility to bring the Good News to the poor, to free the captives, to restore the vision of the blind and to announce the favor of the Lord. The success of this mission statement depends fully on the collaboration and conviction of each staff member that they are “called.” We do not participate in the ministry for our own sake or simply to accomplish what is expected from us according to our assumed responsibilities. Our mission is to assure God’s people that they are accompanied, taught, and assisted by our Parish Team to encounter the presence of God in their journey.

Declaración de la Misión del Equipo Parroquial de San Jerónimo Jesús llegó a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre* hacerlo los sábados. Se levantó para hacer la lectura y se le dio el volumen del profeta Isaías, lo desenrolló y encontró el pasaje en que estaba escrito: “El espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, *porque me ha ungido para llevar a los pobres la buena nueva, para anunciar la liberación a los cautivos y la curación a los ciegos, para dar libertad a los oprimidos y proclamar el año de gracia del Señor.” (Lucas 4:16-19) La visión de la misión del equipo parroquial de San Jerónimo es cuádruple: ♦ Acompañar al pueblo de Dios en la celebración de la Vida Sacramental de la Iglesia Católica. ♦ Educar al pueblo de Dios en el conocimiento de Jesucristo y las Enseñanzas de la Iglesia. ♦ Administrar responsablemente los bienes temporales de la Iglesia. ♦ Ayudar al párroco en la ejecución de los programas pastorales que incluyen la adoración, la sanación y la

restauración total en Jesucristo, el Pastor Principal de las almas.

La realización de la misión parroquial se confía principalmente al párroco que es, “el pastor propio de la parroquia que se le confía, y ejerce la cura pastoral de la comunidad que le está encomendada bajo la autoridad del Obispo diocesano en cuyo ministerio de Cristo ha sido llamado a participar, para que en esa misma comunidad cumpla las funciones de enseñar, santificar y regir, con la cooperación también de otros presbíteros o diáconos, y con la ayuda de fieles laicos, conforme a la norma del derecho.” (Cann. 519)

El cumplimiento de los trabajos encomendados al equipo parroquial debe concebirse como una ayuda al párroco a quien se le confía la responsabilidad de santificar, enseñar y gobernar al pueblo de Dios según las Enseñanzas de Jesucristo el Sumo Sacerdote. Como miembros del equipo parroquial, estamos llamados por Dios a contribuir con nuestros dones y talentos a la continuación de la iniciativa de Dios a llevar Su Reino a la vida de su pueblo. La responsabilidad de cada miembro del equipo es atender al pueblo de Dios mientras ellos son compensados por la generosidad del mismo pueblo. Es por justicia que el equipo parroquial permanezca siempre consciente de que está llamado a servir al pueblo de Dios en el ambiente ministerial. Virtudes ministeriales Mientras la misión de la Parroquia de San Jerónimo es visualizada por el párroco, compartido al pueblo y adaptada a las necesidades particulares de la comunidad, las siguientes son las virtudes ministeriales que el equipo parroquial está invitado a vivir y promover con los demás. ♦ Obediencia sincera al párroco como una expresión de la fe profunda a la misión de Jesucristo. ♦ Celo ministerial e iniciativa como una voluntad al participar en el ministerio parroquial. ♦ Sensibilidad pastoral que muestra el cuidado, la participación y la preocupación por los pequeños detalles que

se asocian con el orden y el decoro del lugar de trabajo, mientras promueven la unidad entre el equipo.

Al final, el propósito del equipo parroquial está siendo resumido por el Evangelio de San Lucas 4:16-19 tal y como se cumplió en el ministerio de Jesucristo. Como sacerdotes, diáconos, religiosos consagrados y líderes laicos, tenemos la responsabilidad de llevar la Buena Nueva a los pobres, liberar a los cautivos, devolver la visión a los ciegos y anunciar el favor del Señor. El éxito de esta misión depende plenamente de la colaboración y la convicción del equipo parroquial de que ha sido “llamado”. No estamos participando en el ministerio por nosotros mismos o simplemente para cumplir con lo que se espera de nosotros según nuestras responsabilidades asumidas. Nuestra misión es asegurar al pueblo de Dios que es acompañado, enseñado y asistido por nuestra labor para encontrar la misma presencia de Dios en su camino.

St. John Vianney Seminary Visits February 17–19, 2022

High school sophomores through college age men (ages 16 – 24) are invited on a two-day adventure to tour the campus and shadow seminarians at St. John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul, MN. You will also have the opportunity to explore the University of St. Thomas, home of the seminary. Join us on this all-inclusive, no cost road trip. This is an official college visit, for which schools allow an excused absence. También tendrán la oportunidad de explorar la Universidad de Santo Tomás, sede del seminario. Acompáñanos en este viaje por autobús con todo incluido y sin costo alguno. Esta es una visita oficial de universidad, para la cual las escuelas permiten una ausencia justificada.
