The Internet and Mobile Device Safety Workshop Monday, April 23rd, at 7:00-8:00 pm in Church Rooms 3 & 4

All Parents and their 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Student(s) are invited to attend this workshop. The Presenter will be East Hempfield Police Department’s Sgt. Jeremy Henry. Our children represent the first generation to grow up entirely in a digital world. They have spent their entire lives using computers, video games, webcams, digital music players, mobile phones, instant messaging apps and everything else the digital world has to offer. They are ‘digital natives’ and some of us are strangers in this land!

From 7:00-7:30 pm, Sgt. Henry will speak with parents and their middle-school child about keeping safe in the digital world. Did you know:

70% of kids 12-17 talk to strangers online? 60% of kids 12-17 have been asked to meet offline by a stranger? 20% of kids have been solicited while online?

33% of kids have been bullied online? 20% have sent a “sexting” message? 40% of teens have not told their parents about something uncomfortable that has happened to them while online?

From 7:30-8:00 pm, Sgt. Henry will speak with parents about ways to become less strange in our children’s digital world. Did you know:

48% of kids say their parents would not approve if they knew what they were really doing online?

While Sgt. Henry is speaking to the parents, Mr. Matt Sahd and Mr. Terry Trego will work with our middle school students on reinforcing Internet Safety tips and Using It To Do Good!

All Parents and Middle School Students of the Parish are welcome. Please RSVP to Mrs. McLean at [email protected], if you plan to attend, so we can gather necessary materials.

Parish Advocate Needed The Diocesan Office of Ministry with People with Disabilities administers a

Parish Advocacy Program to support parishes in responding to the gifts and needs of their parishioners living with disabilities, including their families and caregivers. Our Parish is currently seeking a volunteer to serve as our Parish Advocate. The Parish Advocate is a parishioner, chosen by Father Hahn, who assists him in working for and with parishioners with disabilities. In consultation with Father Hahn, the Advocate identifies persons with disabilities and their families, assesses the needs and gifts of those parishioners and works toward elimination of barriers to pursue their full participation in the life of the Parish. There are no mandatory qualifications for volunteering; candidates should have a “heart” for people with disabilities and be eager to welcome, include and work with these parishioners and their families. The Advocate will become part of the Diocesan network of Advocates and will receive support from the Diocesan Office of Ministry with People with Disabilities. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity for our parish to advocate for those disabled and their families. Interested volunteers should contact the Parish Office at their earliest convenience.

MOM’S Group of Saint Leo We are a group of Catholic women who support each other in our vocations as wives and mothers. Please join us for our next ADORE &

POUR on Tuesday, April 24th. We will meet in the Chapel from 7:30-8:30 pm for Adoration. At 8:40 pm we will go to Loxley’s Restaurant to socialize. This ladies only event is for moms of all ages with kids of all ages. Come for just the Adore, just the Pour, or both! If you have any questions or would like to be added to our email list go to: [email protected].

Church Nursery Returns We are currently renovating our nursery and will soon be available for child care during Mass. We are looking for volunteers to staff it. Adults must have their current diocesan clearances. Teens who are looking to

help or gain service hours are also welcome! We are also looking for donations of gently used toys/books and a few comfortable chairs. Please contact Ellen Eschenwald at 717-719-4026 or email at [email protected]. Thank you for your support!
