Happy New Year!
Well, we finally made it, if you are reading this then it means we got through Covid
2020 together. With the vaccines on the way maybe, just maybe 2021 will be the year
that we can put all of the social distancing and masks behind us. I am hoping that in this
new year we will finally come together as a legion family without the fear associated
with the virus. Since March of 2020 we as a legion post have been forced to eliminate
activities that we normally take for granted such as hosting dinners and parties, dances,
karaoke, trivia nights, pool leagues, legion meetings, and most bingo sessions.
Having said all that, 2020 has also taught me to be grateful for many things. I am
especially grateful for the support the post has received from our family members. Each
of our families stepped up and helped out when ever they could. Without their help last
year would have been even more difficult. Lets all be grateful for our health, family, and
friends. Positivity during this global pandemic is personal; our source of inspiration is
linked to our beliefs, values, and personality, as veterans we are no stranger to
adversity.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I know that everyone could not be happier to see an end to 2020. We are all
hopeful that this new year will see an end to this pandemic especially with the help of the new vaccines. I, for
one, cannot wait to take it when available to me. I encourage all who can take it, to do so. Help stomp out this
virus!
The Legion plans on opening its doors on 6 January. Therefore, we will have our monthly All-you-can-eat
Breakfast on Saturday, 9 January. Please come out and enjoy the best breakfast in town!
A big THANK-YOU to everyone who supported the Food Drive on 12 December. It was a huge success and
greatly appreciated by the Hardin County Schools personnel. It helped feed the children during the Christmas
break and beyond. We also presented checks to Elizabethtown Independent Schools and Hardin County Schools
for their school supplies programs.
Remember the American Red Cross Blood Drive is on Saturday, 30 January, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. You
can make an appointment or walk-ins are welcome. Please give the gift of life.
Please renew your membership if your have not already done so. Dues are $25 for senior members and $7 for
junior members (under 18). The membership year runs from January – December 2021. You can pay in person,
by check, online or by PayPal. To access our PayPal account, go to [email protected]. Thank you for
your continued support!
With the COVID restrictions now in place, at this time, we will not be sponsoring the annual Valentine’s Dance.
There is just no way to meet the social distancing guidelines for this event. If anything changes, we will put out
any new information. Continued on page 5:

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and that Biker
Santa brought all you wished for your motorcycles.
ALR Santa and Elves, seemed to show up at many places this year bringing joy and happiness to everyone they saw. We were not allowed into the venues; however, we stopped by and saw the residents of nursing homes through the windows and we were able to talk with them using our cell phones through their speaker systems.
Some of our Elves had coat and toy drives to make sure those less fortunate had warm clothes and Christ-mas gifts for the children. The ALR had a nice turn out for the Wreaths Across America, placing wreaths on the veteran’s graves at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central and by some of our families request to place a wreath on some of our members that have passed away. As we start the new year of 2021, we can get back on track to riding to new destinations and enjoying the camaraderie of our fellow riders. The first ride of 2021 will be the annual frosty clutch ride around the area and ending with a lunch.
The ALR Bingo program will be starting back up on the 6th of January. Our January meeting will be held on the 28th, at 7:00pm in the main hall for a good get-together. Now that the cold weather has set in, it is a good time to get your bike serviced, ac-cessories added and getting it ready for the riding season, which will come upon us before we know it. For now, throw another log onto the fire pit, grab your favorite drink and enjoy the winter weather and look forward to some springtime riding.
Ride Safe,

Continued from page 1:
We are going to try to reopen the post on January 6, we will still keep reduced hours and will open Wednesday
through Saturday at 4PM each day. We are still under the Covid mandated restrictions which means wearing a
mask and social distancing. I plan on having a general membership meeting on January 7 at 7PM at the post.
Breakfast is scheduled for the second Saturday this month.
I believe that 2021 will be the year we finally get to put all of stress caused by the pandemic behind us.

As always, your Legion will be here to assist you in any way we can.

Legion Family Devotion From God... To You! Think on these things - make your New Year declaration;
I am grateful for who God is in my life and for what He’s done. I will not take for granted the people, the opportunities, and the favor He has blessed me with. I will look at what is right and know what is wrong.
I will thank Him for what I have and not complain about what I don’t have. I will see each day as a gift from God. My heart will overflow with praise and gratitude for all of His goodness. Philippians 4:8; Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, THINK about these things. Please pray for those in our legion family: Darlene Probus, Harry Braxton, Peter Edmunds, Mildred Morris, Kim Walters, Luther King, Darrin Gardner, John Bryant, Debbie Powell, Amber Burgess, Richard Lee, Gabby Barbre. Pray for those in our Legion Family who need healing and salvation. Pray that we all may know the fullness of God’s love and that COVID-19 ends. Pray for our nation. Pray for His love to reign over evil. Please feel free to contact ALR Chaplain DeeDee for prayer needs and also to share our legion blessings.
