Director’s Corner January 2020 I would like to start by wishing all the members and their families a Happy New Year, with the busy holiday season in the rearview mirror, we are already seven days into the new year by the time you are reading this. As a new decade starts, I realized that the 1928 and 1929 Model A's will be turning 100 years old this decade. Stop and reread that last sentence; the cars of our hobby are quickly approaching 100 years old. I don't think anyone at Ford or Henry himself back then could ever have imagined not only the cars lasting this long with parts still available, but also being out on the road and being enjoyed by so many. .A great example of being out on the road is Mike Goode with his Tudor covered over 8000 miles in 2019 in all kinds of weather. I know this because I met Mike for dinner one night for making sure we had a smooth transition and that night it was 17 degrees outside and there sat Mike's Tudor. Another member, Mark Maron, covered around 4000 miles. It probably would have been more, but the car was feeling under the weather for part of the year. Speaking of Mike Goode, I would like to thank him on behalf of the members for leading and guiding the club during the last two years. Mike will still be helping this year as the Official greeter. Dan Pritchett is passing the activities chairman's position to Owen Bassett. Dan has held that position for several years and in knowing Dan, he is only a phone call away for Owen if needed. Coming up this weekend, January 11th, is our annual awards banquet and the Illinois Regions start of its 65th year celebration. Not many things last 65 years, but somehow our region has excelled to reach this milestone. How did that happen??? My answer, besides the cars, are the members. The members are the club, and our region, I believe is one of the largest and oldest in the country. Along with that distinction comes all the talent the club holds. The talent and knowledge ranges from Ron & Ken Ehrenhofer in the club 55 years to our youngest members Amy & John Rozny, and Colin and Charlie still in high school. I am looking forward to a busy, fun and most of all a safe year for all the members. Mike

The December meeting featured our holiday cookie

Exchange, always a delicious event. The December

meeting also saw a new slate of club officers. Mike

Champion will be the new Director and Jerry

Tiesch will be the Assistant Director. Johnny Rozny

Will be the new Club Secretary and Larry Brandel

will take over as Membership Secretary.

We celebrated 3 birthdays at the December

Meeting. Amy Rozny turned 21 and had a special presentation by The King himself. Joey Romando celebrated

his 3rd 21st birthday and Bob Friskas turned a spry 18. Congrats Bob! Now you can vote!

We also had a special guest from The Salt Creek A’s, Nate Dust, who is planning a Regional Meet for 2021.
