Christmas Party The annual Christmas party was held December 10, at the Auburn Valley Golf Club. The party was well attended. Outgoing president Erik Barrett welcomed everyone and thanked hostess Eula Marriott for a job well done. Erik introduced the 2018 Board or Directors and turned the gavel over to our new President, Gary Krezman. A good time was had by all. We also collected food for the Auburn Area Christmas Basket.

Historic Holiday House Tour - December 9

Gold Discovery Park Association - Coloma (And a broken Drive Shaft)

Steve Elliott put together a "spur of the moment" tour

to Coloma. Thirteen of the park's historic

buildings were decorated for the holidays and open to

the public. Costumed docents at each house to related

the history of the building. Holiday refreshments were

served at two locations. Other activities seen were

wreath making, wagon rides, and live music. We had

one Model T and a couple of modern cars attend. The

weather was clear and crisp. Some of the time was

spent explaining Model Ts to interested people that

were in attendance.

A second Model T was expected but never made it.

Myself, in my 27 Tudor, with Allen Koch as a

passenger decided to drive up Green Valley Rd. and

meet the group in Coloma. We were just past Folsom

on Green Valley Road when the engine became

disconnected from the rear end. After a long wait for

the tow truck we were back at my house. The

following Monday I pulled the rear end to discover the

drive shaft broken at

the pinion spool. The

car had an aftermarket

pinion ball bearing

assembly (this bearing

assembly has been in

the car about 25

years). One of the two ball bearings, (the one closest to the pinion) slipped on

the shaft, and was chewed up by the pinion gear, placing strain on drive shaft

causing it to break at the second bearing. The only other damage was a badly beat up pinion gear. I have another

good pinion and thanks to Steve Elliott I have a good drive shaft to use to repair in time for the April

shakedown tour.

Steve has decided to make this an annual event (But no break downs!). So watch the event calendar for

information on next year's event.

Safety Check and Potluck - March 24

This year the annual safety check will be held at the home of Rich and Bertie Baughman, 3771 Auburn-Folsom Rd., Loomis. The event will kick off at 10 am. Drive your Model T and we will give it a good going over so that we may have another safe year of touring. We will conclude the day with your good food.

Meeting Minutes

There was not a formal meeting for December, therefore no minutes to report. *************** T Diggins' Page 3
