Chamber to join in celebration for Town of Prescott Valley’s 40th anniversary

As a champion for a stronger and more vibrant Prescott Valley, the Chamber of

Commerce will support and share in cel-ebration activities for the Town’s 40th anniversary of its incorporation. Ac-tivities are planned throughout the

months with a huge celebration in August, the month of incorpo-ration.

Business has been the backbone of the com-munity since its early beginnings and provid-

ed a foundation for the ultimate growth and development. In 1974

the Chamber was a small business association which incorporated to “unite businessmen in the Prescott Valley area located in Yavapai County, State of Arizona, and to encourage civic improvements within said community, to promote and organize community improvement and betterment activities.” The Chamber was here in the beginning and stands today as a catalyst for business and economic development growth, a convener for leaders and influencers and a champion for all community assets, organizations and industry in Prescott Valley.

Festivities kick off on New Years’ Eve with a party to include ice skating, a bonfire and fireworks. January 6 the Polar Bear Splash will endeavor to see 40 hearty soles take to the waters of Mountain Valley Splash. (Includ-ing Chamber membership services manager Brady Cabral.) As the year

progresses each event, new and continuing will have a 40th anniver-sary theme. Prescott Valley Days will embrace the “ruby” signify-

ing 40 years and will invite everyone to “follow the yellow brick road” for this annual fun community event.

More to come as the year gets started but each and every day the Chamber remains committed it businesses, community and quality of life.

Marnie Uhl, CEO

Happy New Year everyone! It’s back to business here

at the Chamber and we are busy getting dates set for our 2018 calendar. We are plan-ning new programs, adding to events and joining in Prescott Valley’s 40th anniversary cel-ebration.

First up is our Quarterly Breakfast on January 23. We will be helping kick off and celebrate our wonder-ful Town of Prescott Valley. Celebrating 40 years of incorporation, the Town has much to be proud of and we are pleased to have been a part of their growth and are ready to share in the festivities. Included in the program is an update on economic development but we will also have some history, some stories and hear of the festivities planned for this “Ruby Celebration!” As always, the wonderful Allison Flannery has writ-ten a special invitation included in this news maga-zine. Reservation required; you do not want to miss this breakfast!

Registrations are now being taken for our next Busi-ness Academy class XII beginning January 24. This is a great way to jump start your business for 2018 and the Chamber makes it easy and affordable for you to participate. Contact me for more information.

We anticipate 2018 to be a year full of exciting growth, activities and prosperity for our business and community. Together we will make Prescott Valley the best place to live, work and play in Arizona.

Cell Phones for Soldiers Provides Critical Social Support for Troops Serving OverseasCredit Union West and Sun City West Computer Club partner to help service members stay connected to family. As a community, much gratitude is owed to our active military and veteran neighbors for securing our nation and allowing us to live free. Service members who are deployed overseas make an even greater sacrifice as they serve our nation away from the love and support of their families.Cell Phones for Soldiers provides troops much-needed lifelines to the love and support of stateside family and friends. Remain-ing socially connected to their community can help our service members remain emotionally healthy. To contribute to this important cause, Credit Union West has partnered with Sun City West Computer Club to recycle do-nated cell phones in exchange for calling minutes. Each phone donated at a Credit Union West location equates to 100 calling minutes that are distributed to our overseas service members. In 2017, there were 587 phones donated by Credit Union West members and staff that were turned over to the computer club, equating to 58,700 donated calling minutes. Since the program began in 2010, 5,032 phones and more than half a million call-ing minutes have been donated.“Credit Union West honors our military roots by giving back to active service members and veterans,” explains Bob MacGregor, President/CEO at Credit Union West. “We are proud of our military heritage and encourage our members and neighbors to pledge their support by donating out-of-date, un-used cell phones to help military members stay connected to their families. “Credit Union West originated on Luke Air Force Base 65 years ago. They remain connected to their heritage by continuing to promote non-profit organizations that assist veterans and active military. The public can help our deployed troops stay connected to

family by donat-ing their unused cell phones at any Credit Union Branch location. For more infor-mation contact Allan Switalski, 602.631.3426

Holiday Stroll through Valley of Lights The first ever walk through the Valley of Lights was held on Tuesday,

November 28. Over 2,500 people joined in the evening’s holiday delight walking the one mile road viewing the displays up close and personal. Num-

bers far exceeded attendance expec-tations which posed a few challenges. But overwhelmingly the comments

were “amazing’, “beautiful”, “fun” and “please do it again.” Thank you to our volunteers; the Prescott Valley Police

Department VIPs, HUSD bus drivers, Cham-ber Ambassadors, staff, family and friends, sponsors and of course Santa for helping make this evening so successful. Plans are al-

ready underway for next year; the 2nd annual Holiday Stroll through Valley of Lights on November 27, 2018.

HOmE sliCE PiZZA COmPAnyThe Local Pizza Shop. Here at Home Slice Pizza Company our goal, our mission rather, is to become a spot for people to come, relax, and enjoy. Where they are not considered customers, but family. A place where the pizza is made fresh with homemade sauce, fresh dough, and produce cut daily. Home Slice is a term used to mean friend, and that is truly the feeling we hope every customer feels when eating here. Our owners consist of two families, who live here locally, have kids that go to school here locally, and are anxious to give back. While franchises are tied down to strict guidelines and national media, Home Slice Pizza looks to give back to schools, churches, athletics, and so much more. This is not a territory claimed by just another pizza place, this is our home. With that, we focus on creating specials and combos for both lunch and dinner with the family in mind. What that means is fresh ingredients at family friendly pricing. Instead of buy-ing one large pizza for $14-$18, we do 2 for $20.99. Need a quick lunch? How about 2 oversized slices and a drink for $5.95? We understand the importance of family friendly pricing, and a family friendly atmosphere. Equipped with 3 Tvs for your sports viewing pleasure, quick service to grab a bite before the movies, or the local school kids looking for affordable slices… Home Slice Pizza Company is your Local Pizza Shop. Come on in, sign our wall, and become apart of the Home Slice Family!Find them at 2992 N. Park Ave., Prescott Valley in the entertainment district. Or give them a call at (928) 515-0008.
