Volunteer Spotlight- Alison Stone

Alison has been an integral part of the Austin Texans for last couple of years, donating her time, experience, and enthusiasm in Marketing and most recently, as an appointed position of Education & Special Projects. From our Girls Director | JD Cochran

The Austin Texans have added another component to its Girls Program - the first Austin Texans College Showcase.February 4th and 5th over 80 Colleges will be at Old Settlers Park to watch the Austin Texans Girls Program play. The Showcase will also include 42 teams from around Texas. "We are very excited to add another step in our College Program at the Austin Texans", says JD Cochran, Girls Program Director. "It's great for our families to not have to travel, get to sleep and eat at home and play in front of College Coaches!" The event maxed out field space at 45 teams.

We have updated our Club website to include a Player Development Pathway, a College Yearly Cycle and our Staircase to College. Please check them out! This year we have added a College Trip to North Carolina. Our 8th graders each year will havethe ability to go on a four-day, five-college tour in North Carolina. The players will visit UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, UNCG and NC State. The trip takes place over the first weekend of Spring Break each year.

Also, congrats to all of our Texans girls participating in the ODP Friendlies in College Station recently! Included in the bunch were these rascals!

From our Youth Development Director | Tony Kallas

The Youth Academy program has experienced significant positive growth over the break and we are still accepting registrations. The Academy will be sending teams to compete in the Texans Warm-Up Cup, Georgetown Spring Blowout and the Iber Cup in Dallas.

The Recreational program has seen a significant increase in registration for younger players as well. With this increase, we will need coaches to volunteer. From our Boys Director | Jose Reyes

Training for the Boys Division got started in mid-January in preparation for the Houston Texans Madness. Congratulations to the Austin Texans 06B Red for reaching the finals of that event. Great job boys and Coach Kai!

The Austin Texans Warm Up Cup is right around the corner. If your family does or does not have any teams participating in the event be sure to sign up to Volunteer to work the event. This is a great way to knock out your volunteer hours for 2016-2017. You can do that by clicking HERE.

We are pleased to introduce the club’s first Intern Team!

These 5 UT-Austin students will be gaining valuable experience in the sports arena this Spring, as well as providing the club with much-needed additional “boots on the ground.” Please join me in welcoming these fine young people to the Texan Family for 2017 and perhaps beyond:

Cherise Lee – Marketing. Presently working with UT women’s basketball and has interned with the NCAA, Austin Sports and Social Club, Round Rock Express, and ESPN X Games. She also works with UT Rec Sports, and is a member of the Black Presidents Leadership Council.Chandler Nguyen – Nutrition/Sports Performance Develop and deliver nutrition information to all of our teams. He is a freshman, majoring in Exercise Science and presented an impressive nutrition outline. Has already created a nutrition plan for Girls 99’s recent OK trip, and presented at Girls College Night #2. Patricio Barredo – Marketing/Social Media. A freshman at UT, from the Valley. Fluent in Spanish. Enjoys and has played all sports. Played football in HS and plays forthe UT Rugby Club. Started his own successful business customizing shoes. Entire business is via social media platforms.Macy Leonhart – Marketing/Social Media. Is in the UT Cheerleading squad and serves as Recruiting and Uniform Project Manager. Works with commercial brands at Football and Basketball games to promote their companies and products. As a Sales Promotion Intern with a career counseling agency, she created and maintained various company social media accounts and managed profiles on various social networking sites.Uttem Eamani - Special project: Profiling the youth sports experience/MarketingCurrently a UT Business Honors and Accounting sophomore. Will add Sport Management as another major in the next semester. Also has a strong interest in Data Analytics, and is as a film/data analyst for the UT Rugby Team and Data Analyst for the Texas Sports Analytics group.

High School Pool Sessions begin on February 16th from 8:15-9:30pm at Texans Fields Pflugerville. Be sure to come on out and get a chance to work on your technical skills leading up to the FC Dallas College Showcase in March.

REMINDERS:1 - Signing Ceremony for our 2017 Graduates is Wednesday, February 1st from 6:30-8:30pm at Dell Children's Medical Center of Texas. Families can begin to arrive at 6:15pm. The entire club is expected to attend to celebrate this great achievement for our Seniors. I really hope to see everyone out there.

2 - Do not bring plastic bottles to the training ground. We are in the thick of flu season and there is a stomach virus going around. Please bring a water jug with your name on it so that your child can stay healthy and hydrated.

Texans Education Update

New informative sessions are on the way!

We hosted our first Entry Level/Recertification referee course at Hill Country Bible Church recently. Congrats to the 28 attendees, several of whom were Texans!

One of the activities coming soon will be a CPR class, open to all members and staff of the club. MORE DETAILS SOON!
