XO, Cheryl January 2017
A Message from the President…
Happy New Year! January has always been a favorite month of mine. In addition to being my birthday month, January seems to have a certain calm to it, probably because it comes right after an often busy December. One highlight this past December was our annual Christmas Cocktail Party. Thank you to Devon Logan, Beth Zedaker and their committee for creating a wonderful White Christmas right here in sunny San Diego! Every year I look forward to our casual January meeting. Last year we wore “fitness
apparel” and a few years ago we wore “sports fan” outfits. Well, this year is less specific and I suggest you wear anything that makes you feel comfortable (and not embarrassed to be seen in public, of course)! Peggy Sbardellati and her committee have planned another inspiring program, so I hope you all can attend. If you can’t attend or can’t stay for lunch, please remember to be courteous to our luncheon committee and email or call the attendance committee by Sunday, January 1. I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2017!

At our January meeting, our speaker will be KishaLynn Elliott. She has been a Director at the Monarch School for homeless students. KishaLynn manages the on-campus college and career center and oversees life skills programming. Part of her role is to provide life coaching to Monarch’s high school students and alumni who are impacted by homelessness. By conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses of program data and outcomes, she helps to empower the staff at Monarch to achieve the organization’s mission of educating homeless youth and giving them hope for the future. KishaLynn will provide the members of The Thursday Club with a ten- minute interactive growth planning activity.

Did you hear?? Mary Lou Harris, Randee Smith and Roni Draves would love to receive cards of love, healing and encouragement. Let’s let them know we miss them! The December Luncheon Committee saved the day! A circuit went out on the fridge the night before the December meeting, rendering all the previously prepared food unusable. Did they throw up their hands? No! Did they order pizza? Nope! They regrouped, ran to Costco and still managed to serve a delicious luncheon! That’s how it’s done, ladies! Did you hear other news about Thursday Club members? Remember to share it with The Bulletin. Answers to the Little Luncheon Quiz: How many lunches were cooked? 225 How many regretted for December? 5 How many did not stay for lunch in December? 45 That’s four tables that didn’t need to be set and cleared. Four centerpieces that didn’t need to be made. Forty plates that didn’t need to be plated and washed. Countless time and labor of your fellow members to serve 40 people who weren’t there.
THE REAL ANSWER? RSVP if you DO NOT plan to stay for lunch. Please!
