SoftFIRE: SDN in the large will startin February The Consortium is pursuing theintegration of experimental facilities,testbeds and laboratories into aFederated testbed in the context ofFIRE+. Focus on technologies likeSoftware Defined Networking andNetwork Function Virtualization in orderto create a reliable experimentalnetwork infrastructure within the FIRE+initiative. Focus on three major keyaspects: interoperability,programmability, and security. Theseproperties will be analyzed in terms ofefficiency, functional responsiveness,end to end latency and generally end-to-end QoS. FOKUS and TUB willintegrate the 5G-Playground in this
large scale testbed. The 5G-Playground will provide on demanddeployments of Virtual NetworkFunctions (VNFs) providing a fullyvirtualized 5G-enabled core networkusing the NFV environmentimplemented by the Open Baton tool.

OpenMTC Delivery for the NationalChiao Tung University in Taiwan The OpenMTC team delivered theOpenMTC Rel. 4 upgrade to theNational Chiao Tung University (NCTU)in Taiwan and conducted two days’hands-on training for the NCTU R&Dteam and students. The NCTU hasbeen using the OpenMTC for teachingstudents the M2M/IoT technologies andfor M2M/IoT R&D projects sincerelease 1.
