The public is cordially invited to attend. The service will be aired on Catholic Television (C-TV). For more information and resources for the 2014 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, visit the Graymoor Ecumenical and Interreligious Institute at: www.geii.org. The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity began this Saturday, January 18th, and continues through Saturday, January 25th. This Sunday, January 19, is Ecumenical Sunday and is an occasion to recall that, while our churches are united in baptism and while we recognize each other’s ecclesial community as a source of vitality and vision, we also painfully acknowledge that we do not yet celebrate the fullness of Christian unity. We seek to understand the obstacles that still lie in the path toward unity and we firmly believe that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, these obstacles can be overcome. We pray that as God, in Christ, has gifted us with life and light by the power of the Holy Spirit, so too will God continue to inspire us by the same Spirit to work for the unity of the Church! Today we pray for the time when our full, visible unity may emerge through the power of the Holy Spirit as a foretaste of the Kingdom where God’s love reigns eternal! For more information and resources for the 2014 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, visit the Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Institute at: www.geii.org.

2014 SUMMER MISSION EXPERIENCE FOR HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS The Summer Mission Experience provides students with an opportunity to know Christ amongst the poor, to gain a better perspective on their own lives, a greater understanding of their Catholic/Christian faith, and what it means to be missionary in today’s world. This year the Mission sites will be in Northeastern Pennsylvania and the dates will be July 13th to 19th. There will be (2) groups going to (2) different areas, one urban and one rural. These are faith-based mission journeys that involve experiential and Christian presence, learning, service and interaction among children, youth and adults. Each group will connect with other missionaries – priests, religious, and lay persons – serving disadvantaged children and adults in various ministries and programs. One group will include service with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity Sisters programs in the Norristown area, Project Hope at Camp St. Andrew for underprivileged children, soup kitchens and homes for the elderly in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. The rural sites may include a Vacation Bible School program for the region as well as other ministries in a rural setting. The cost is approximately $500 or $600 depending on the area being served. If you feel called to a mission experience for this summer, don’t let cost keep you from applying. If you are selected to be a part of either group, there are ways to raise the money. Students in their Junior year of high school – from Catholic schools, public schools, and home schools can apply, as well as teachers or mission moderators interested in being a chaperone. Fliers are available in the back of the Church with more important information, including CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS, HOW TO APPLY (DEADLINE TO APPLY IS JANUARY 31ST), INTERVIEW INFORMATION, WEEKEND RETREAT INFORMATION, AND INFORMATION ON HOW TO SEND YOUR APPLICATION. If you are interested in attending, please pick a copy up today.
