Dear Parishioners,
“We have observed that, in society and the world in which we live, selfishness has in-creased more than love for others, and that men of good will must work, each with his own
strengths and expertise, to ensure that love for others increases until it is equal and possibly exceeds love for oneself.” Pope Francis This week marks the sad anniversary of Roe V. Wade and usually there is a great deal of energy both in Washington DC and around the various communities in our nation. This year, because of COVID 19 things will be different. Yet none of that minimizes our commitment to be instruments of love. When God looks at each person God does so in love. Each life is precious. Too often in our world, people come to see themselves as abandoned. Sometimes those with physical disabilities are seen as a problem. The child in the womb is seen as a problem. The elderly can be seen as a problem. This is not the way of Christ! If we tried to love with the eyes of Christ, so much would be different. Abortion is rooted in a failure to love. It may begin when someone is used for another’s pleasure and then discarded. It is a failure to see that physical intimacy must be rooted in authentic love and com-mitment. It may be fostered by fear of lack of support for the unexpected child. It may be encouraged by a world that offers false choices. It may be encouraged by a society that is indifferent. It is not just failure to love the unborn. It is a failure to love and support the mother. It is also a failure to create a society in which the sacredness of human sexuality is respected. Too often the conversation around abortion is rooted in legality, human freedom, philosophical questions or religious doctrines. It can become a battle between various ideologies. All of these have their place in the conversation. But in the end it is a question of love. We are hoping to reopen our church for Adoration beginning on January 21st from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. As this day is the Eve of the Roe v Wade anniversary the last hour will be a holy hour for the Respect of Human Life. You can register for this Holy Hour on Line. Our Youth Ministry is also organizing a diaper drive to mark their commitment to life. Details are found in the bulletin. In Christ, Father Mike

Prayer to St. Joseph
To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation,
and having implored the help of your most Holy Spouse,
we confidently invoke your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the
Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the
Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the
inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our
necessities.
O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ;
O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence;
O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle
with the power of darkness, as once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s
Holy Church from the snare of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your
constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in
holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen

Even though we can have a public gathering of the Mass,
we are only at a small percentage of normal Mass attend-
ance. Yet, we still have our normal daily operation costs at
the church.
