We are so excited for our Annual Night at the races that will take place on Saturday January 24th. Our entry fee for our event is $3.00 or $5.00 per couple. This entry fee will include: light finger food and soft drinks for refreshments.

Finally, remember that we are offering child care in the Rainbow Building for $5.00 per family! We look forward to seeing you there!

Carpool Safety Reminders As the Third Grading Period gets going full swing, it is important to remember a few safety practices when dropping off and picking children up each day.

1. Do not drop your children off on Division St. Please park either in the Loreto Center drive or the main parking lot. Division St. is congested and not safe for dropping off at this time.

2.Jefferson Parish regulations now prohibit ANY use of a cell phone in school zones, including when in the pick up line. As the commercials remind us: It can wait!

AR & AM: How to Check Your Child’s Progress The easiest way to monitor your child’s Accelerated Reading and Math progress is through the Renaissance Home Connect website. You can access the site via the St. Benilde School website under the Links section. Choose the “Accelerated Math and Reading at Home” link and enter the user name and password your child uses for Accelerated Reading and Math.

Your child’s Accelerated Reading personal points goal completion is assessed at the end of the quarter using the rubric below. You can view your child’s current points achieved and percentage of goal met on Renaissance Home Connect. After logging in, you should choose the Reading tab and Reading Practice Quizzes. The “Points” section under “My Overall Progress” contains the goa l in format ion . P lea se contact Mrs . Perez

January Men’s Club Meeting Hey SBS Dad’s! Have you been to a Men’s Club Meeting yet? If not, you should come to January’s meeting this Monday, January 19 at 7:30 PM in the cafeteria. This month’s speaker will be Marc Milano, who is the new Principal of Archbishop Rummel High School. After he speaks and takes questions from the membership, you can learn more about upcoming events such as Pelican’s Day and the Fish Fries. Dinner and drinks aplenty are provided. Afterwards, you can decide if you would like to become a full, active member. If you are looking to get more involved in the SBS community and meet new friends and fellow dads, the Men’s Club is the way to go!

Pelican’s Day Moved The Pelican’s Day has been moved up to Wednesday, January 27, 2016! Representatives from your New Orleans Pelicans will be out to talk about teamwork, commitment, and hard work. They will also set up many different games for the students to play to build their basketball skills. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Susan Connick at [email protected].
