bless you. Help us to seek that which is high, noble, and good. Help
us in the moment of difficult decision. Help us to work with renewed
vigor for a warless world, a better distribution of wealth, and a
brother/sisterhood that transcends race or color.”Martin Luther King

People: God works with us.
Leader: As we offer our gifts to all,

Hymn “Here in This Place”
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, in your gracious presence, we confess our sin and the
sin of the world. Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a
people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken
world. The profit and pleasures we pursue lay waste the land and pol-
lute the seas. The fears and jealousies that we harbor set neighbor
against neighbor and nation against nation. We abuse your good gifts
of imagination and freedom, of intellect and reason, and turn them
into bonds of oppression. Lord, have mercy upon us; heal and forgive
us. Set us free to serve you in the world as agents of your reconciling
love in Jesus Christ. Hear now our silent prayers…. Amen.
Song of Supplication “Lord, Have Mercy” (sung 3 times)
Responsive Assurance of Forgiveness
Leader: Christ is our peace; those who are divided he has made one. He has
broken down the barriers of separation by his death and has built us
up into one body, with God. To all who repent and believe, he has
promised reconciliation. So live as people reconciled.
People: Thanks be to God. Amen.
Passing of the Peace
Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.

Response: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen, Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is
the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Dr. Root is the Director of the Wheaton Evangelism Initiative, and is a world-class authority on the life and writings of C. S. Lewis. Dr. Root will give a special presen-tation on C. S. Lewis, Evangelism and Engaging the Culture, after which there will be time for Q&A.
When: Friday, January 27, 2017 from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm Where: Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church 3901 Gallows Rd., Annandale, VA 22003

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Many guests come to the Family Room with events held by outside groups, Grace committees and groups, and the Grace Weekday Preschool. Many of them will see Grace for the first time, and we’d like the Family Room (and all areas of the church) to be welcoming for all our visitors.
If you use this space, please make sure that your group tidies up and neatly stores belongings that are left behind, and that you turn off all appliances. Please remove old materials and equipment that are no longer used by your group. Contact the Board or the office if you need help finding storage space for your meeting supplies. Thanks for making Grace open and friendly to all.
