from each state (shared occupancy in each)

ALABAMA
• Sent letter to DD partners to confirm commitment
• Meeting about youth summit held on a campus• ADAP activities, monitor shelter workshops• DMH-DD with person centered planning• Resources from UCEDD• Working on Winter Newsletter
Florida
• Completed statewide conference• Working on access to the community,
transportation, employment and the community• Working on establishing FLSAN as a SA
resource hub, • Hired paid bloggers talking about disability
topics, videos • Working with P&A center
NORTH CAROLINA
• Exploring possibility of Joint ADA rally with South Carolina
• Increased membership and chapters • Assisting the Virgin Islands in getting their 501 C3• Completed our first Vlog on Employment• Create a series of Vlogs to assist the Virgin Islands
in building their self advocacy movement• Small grant • Submitting another grant, peer to peer support
across NC
OKLAHOMA
• Working on SALT self advocacy leadership training: trained 85 leaders
• Hosted SABE conference and OCSS Advisory Meeting in October• Launching SALT2, Discover training• Agreed to host Webinar on SALT for OCSS and do a modified
training at OCSS Face to Face meeting • 2010 summit team , OKSAN is still active. Hosted National
Conference• Working on legislation toGetting rid of the “R” word• Another institution Closing • March DD awareness day at the capitol• Working still on the waiting list, finances is the issue
SOUTH CAROLINA
• Increased membership• Participating March 4 at Disability Legislative Day• Feb members will participate in SC Provider conference
in Myrtle Beach• Members are on transportation committees• Community leadership academy to learn how to be on
other boards in the springtime• Hosting next Face to Face meeting• Meeting on access and accessibility at the state home• Working on an event for the state plan, the long road
home
TENNESSEE
• Working with chapters in parts of Tennessee and talked about concerns they had, provider services, respecting rights for people with disabilities
• Going to Federal court an speak to state attorneys about allowing people to attend meeting and respecting people with disabilities, and mismanagement of funds for services
• Starting micro boards• Regional meeting, started group in Nashville• Using all kinds of social media sites, assisted by an
individual who uses social media, will broadcast soon
HOW CAN YOU USE YOUR MONEY
What can you do with your money?– Examples:
• Buy software to edit• Buy equipment for meetings or video recording• Pay self advocates to blog or vlog on issues• Community events• Hire someone to assist in teaching your team to
use technology• Use money for a state event
– Youth summit, Long Road homes, ADA
FACE TO FACE
South Carolina will host the next meeting• Additional support would be helpful to make
money go further• Dates: March 12-14, 2015
