The Baptism of the Lord

“After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him.” (Mt 3:16)

Today’s feast marks the end of the Christmas season. The beginning of Ordinary Time signals a going back to the normal routine sans the Christmas décor and music while the year’s harsh issues and real-life challenges begin to unfold. Jesus likewise officially begins his ‘public life’ and ministry after his baptism at the Jordan River. How ‘public’ is your life as a parishioner? Is mere attendance at Sunday mass enough to fulfill one’s Christian Catholic obligation(s)? It may be easier for some to be out there serving visibly in a liturgical or pastoral ministry while others may find it awkward or uneasy at first. But we are invited to let go and allow God to lead us. We have an abundance of ministries at St. Faustina’s! These are opportunities to serve the Lord in one another, whether parishioner or visitor, Catholic or non-Catholic, believer or non-believer. Our mission statement allows us to reach out in love and service to anyone in the world around us. Baptism is our entry into the life and ministry of the church. It will please our God for us to embrace the year 2020 with a prayer to perfect our vision of life, that is, to remain calm and anchored in the Lord no matter what successes or setbacks we may be experiencing, forgiving and practicing kindness out of genuine love for everyone.

“…I see that God shows no partiality. Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly is acceptable to him.” (Acts 10:34)

St. Faustina Building Project Weekly Update (# 6) We are patiently waiting to hear from the Diocese and architec-tural firm regarding the revised Main Entrance design and cost. Once this issue is resolved we should know approximately how much we need to raise to begin construction.

WINTER MASS SCHEDULE…

Our additional vigil 5:30 Satur-

day Mass offers additional seat-

ing. It is critical we reduce the

numbers of people who attend

the 4:00 Mass during the winter

season as we frequently exceed

posted facility capacity, a safety

hazard for all. (This extra Mass

schedule continues through Sat-

urday, April 18, 2020.)

WE NEED

FOR ALL MASSES, ESPECIALLY THE 4:00 & 5:30 PM SATURDAY MASSES AND 8:00 AM ON SUN-

DAY. Deacon Mike will be holding a series of Altar Servers workshops beginning on Feb 1st at 2:00 pm in the church. Current Altar Servers are called to at-tend. This is also an invitation for all adults, students, men, women, girls and boys (who have received first communion) interesting in becoming an altar server to attend.

Saturday, February 15th 9:00 am-11:00 am in the church

Host by: Diane Maglione & Kelly Mucci

All current lectors and those interested in becoming lectors are encouraged to attend.

WE NEED LECTORS! (Young or Old) We especially encourage our youth to participate at the 11:00 am Mass.

EVERY SUNDAY When you dine at the Texas Road-house on Highway 192 in Kissimmee between dining 12:00 - 4:00 PM, write St. Faustina on the receipt, and place it at the box by the host’s stand, the parish re-ceives 10% of the receipt.

Did you know?

The St. Faustina Catholic Church parishioners responded to our lat-est blood drive in December by donating with 17 pints of blood. Considering many of the regular donors were visiting family and friends elsewhere, this was an ex-cellent response. Your continued support of this ministry helps save lives. Our next Blood Drive is schedule for Sunday, February 23.

THANK YOU

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary will be mov-ing from every Monday evenings to Tuesday afternoon starting Jan-uary 28th from 1:30 - 3:30 PM in the Usher’s Room.

All are welcome!

crucial communication piece is provided to our parish at no cost THANKS to the generous advertising support of our parishioners and community-minded business-

es. Please let us know if you can help by advertising in the bulletin. Bulletin advertisers and sponsors recognize the tremendous value of connecting with our church fami-

ly, and we ask our parishioners and guests to patronize our supporters when using a local service. If you’d like to advertise in the weekly bulletin, please contact Jenny at

“I was hungry, and you gave me some-thing to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink.”

When you feed others, you are feeding Christ!

You have the opportunity to feed the hungry in our community. Eve-ry weekend after ALL the Masses and on Tuesdays between 8:30 - 3:00 we are collecting non-perishable food items in the usher’s room. Our Food for ALL Minis-try delivers the food to the Well of Hope Thrift Shop, located behind the Wendy’s on Highway 27. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
