We had previously only had shorter conferences, and we knew that we needed to also provide more training for our missionaries in the field. Our personal goal as a family was to provide this for our Bible school staff throughout Asia. One of our main ways to do this was to have a SBS Boost training time here in Taiwan. In the last year, we have planned and raised funds to bring leaders from the developing world here. Overall, over $4,000 was donated for travel and training costs. Of the 75 in attendance for Boost, we had missionaries from Mongolia, South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Australia, Uzbekistan, and the United Sta tes. Four of our international staff paid their own way here to be resource teachers for the week. In all, the teachers and I have over 100 years of Bible teaching and missions experience, and we attempted to  pour all of this into the leaders and staff who came.

One goal of our Boost timewas to network and see more

pioneering projects begin.Already, we are pioneering

new Bible schools inThailand, Russia, andAustralia this year. We

prayed over people who havea desire to see new schoolsstart in Malaysia, Indonesia, and throughout the islands of the Pacific.

What was quite amazing wasthe multiple languages we hadrepresented at the trainingtime. From the front, we hadour teaching translated intoChinese. While the Chinesetranslation was going, we also

had other groups at the back of the room translating intoother languages. There wasKhmei for the Cambodians,

Korean, and Russian for theUzbeks all happeningsimultaneously! It was like a

picture of heaven fromRevelation 7 where all peoplesand languages are gatheredaround the throneof God,worshipping in onevoice.

We want to thank you all again for your prayers, encouragement, and support. SBS

Boost would have never been possible without you all as our support team. This year hasseen many challenges, but

God has used you all to keepus in the mission field. Thank you!

We celebrated our first Christmas here inTaiwan by joining with a local outreach teamthat does a live nativity drama. It was such awonderful way to spend the holiday, byhelping Taiwanese understand the story of Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. Afew people here in Taiwan thought that SantaClaus and Jesus were the same person.

Katie is still plugging away at Chinese, andrecently met a woman on the train who offeredto do a language exchange for free! As welisted to this side, we need to see more supportcome in for Katie to be able to continuestudying in class though.

The kids are doing well in school, and areabout to have a break for Chinese New Year. This is the biggest holiday of the year here inTaiwan. Kai’s Chinese continues to grow andhe received good grades on his report cardfrom the Chinese public school.

Financial Update and Prayer Requests

Praise reports: all the tuition came infor the kids’ schooling!

Needs

1) Chinese classes: Katie wouldlove to finish the year out inChinese, but we need $300 amonth to do this. $1,200 would

be enough for the rest of theschool year.

2) Van: we are still praying for a

van so we can get around Taiwanas a family. We would needaround $5,000 at least to do this.

3) Increased support: we are stillshort $300 a month in committedsupport to reach our budgetedamount.
