The Stacey Eagle Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams played George Gervin Academy on Tuesday night and were both victorious! The girls had an easy time of it while the boys played a tough team but
prevail after a strong 4th quarter, Way to go Eagles. Below is a mixture of images from both games.

Today in Math History (Taken from Day‐By‐Day Math by Susan Ohanian, © 2000 by Math Solutions Publications)
On January 21st, 1976, a British Airways Concorde left London for Bahrain (an island off the coast of Arabia) and an Air France Concorde took off from Paris to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, launching the first supersonic regular passenger service. A Concorde jet is 205.7 feet long, has a wingspan of 83.8 feet,
weighs 389,000 pounds, reaches a cruising speed of 1,354 miles per hour, holds 100 passengers, can fly 3,970 miles without refueling, and can go as high as 60,000 feet. The Concorde website contains
fascinating information about its history: http://www.concorde‐jet.com
Students Investigate… Compare the Concorde’s statistics with those of other planes. Is the Concorde’s
ratio of length to wingspan different from that of other planes? How about its weight?
