THE WEE PAPER
Donegal Parenting Hub launched the “Make One Change”
Campaign on Tuesday 7th January 2014.
The Parenting Hub comes under the Donegal Children’s
Services Committee and is an interagency group given the
responsibility of
looking at supports available to parents throughout the county.
Membership of the Hub includes representatives from various
agencies throughout Donegal.
The Make One Change Campaign is aimed at all parents
throughout the county.
We are asking parents to make a New Year’s Resolution to do
one thing differently with their children.
It could be reading a bedtime story to your child at night,
showing an interest in your teen’s hobbies (music, sport), eating
a family meal together at least once a week .
Parents might consider “pressing the pause button” and
thinking about what is going on for themselves and their child.
Sometimes it is good to leave dealing with a
situation until everyone is calm.
Making one small change can have a domino
effect and help to add to the quality of family
life.

The Centre would like to
congratulate all the winners in
the recent Christmas draw and a
big thanks you to all those who
sponsored prizes. Your continued
support is very much
appreciated.
The Lifford Clonleigh Resource Centre
Photography group invite all to a
photographic exhibition with a wine and cheese
reception at 7.30pm-9.00pm on Friday 24th January 2014
in the main hall in the
centre. The exhibition will include
photographs taken by participants on the
photography classes at the centre funded by the
Donegal ETB (Community Education).

THE WEE PAPER
We have been having a very mild
Autumn/Winter this season therefore
everything is growing earlier than usual. Just be careful of a late frost. We have
been tidying and keeping on top of
weeding. Now your shrubs and fruit bushes are
dormant. It is now an ideal time to prune back our gooseberry and Rose bushes. In the shops and garden
centres, now is the time to plan your
garden seeds and bulbs. Plenty of bargains in the stores now!
Page 11
Don’t forget our wildlife. It is
Important to keep your feeders and
tables well stocked. Your garden birds will like Bread crusts, raisins, ripe fruit, nuts and bird food mix. Don’t forget they also need water. You will thank
them later when they eat all your
garden pests. As for lawns, avoid
walking on them when soggy or
covered in frost.
For now till next month
Happy gardening!
