● 7 research vessels including Chikyu operation will be managed by a single department in JAMSTEC
● More scientifically adaptable research platforms (vessels/ROVs/AUVs/HOV) management expected based upon projects
● for site surveys, for shallow samplings, etc
● for more collaboration with international partners
● More close communication between engineering development and platform operation
● Efficient and effective platform management should be available within the 7 years term
● Increase commercial usage using ship’s idling time like Chikyu operation
● More internationalization requested by the JAMSTEC Advisory Board
