Introducing cloud.IQ – ‘Making marketing technology accessible through web apps’ James Critchley - CEO

description

James Critchley, CEO and founder of cloud.IQ Speaking as part of Digital Shoreditch 2013 James left the relative safety and security of a job within an established, successful company and decided to create a new start-up, based in London’s TechCity. The next challenge was to get the funding to help build a team that could create the product and take it to market. We met a lot of potential investors, and were lucky enough to eventually attract the interest of Bridges Ventures, a sustainable investment company that backs entrepreneurs who want to make a difference to society or the environment. We were fortunate enough to raise funding from the Bridges Sustainable Growth Fund – they shared our view that we could help smaller businesses and charities to grow. Based in the Accelerator in TechCity - the vibrant heart of London's tech scene based around Shoreditch has proved a smart move. -This has it helped us recruit and retain the best tech talent in the UK, but it also means we are part of a much bigger and inspiring collective of companies all trying to disrupt established ways of doing stuff. There are now over 3,000 tech companies all within a mile of us, creating ample opportunities to network and share ideas. The Accelerator not the most glamorous of offices, but they understand our need to access relatively low rent premises and also have the flexibility to knock down walls to expand our office as we need it. We’ve hired 20 people in the last few months and so this is crucial – a full office move would have been really disruptive at a time when we need to focus on the business. www.cloud-iq.com
