We accomplish this goal by raising funds and recruiting volunteers for effective, research-based programs for families and children at The Phoenix Center of Greenville. I work with the Helping Hands program at one of the housing facilities to provide general maintenance projects. Landscaping, bike repairs, carpentry projects, painting and many others. This critical program provides comprehensive, residential treatment to about 120 pregnant women, young mothers and preschool-age children each year. Since it was started in 1965, over 69,000 professionals have traveled to 104 countries to observe vocations and ways of lives abroad, developing professional and personal relationships along the way. Exchange visits are between paired areas of the world for a four-to-six-week study program in which participants train in language, culture, occupations and current events in their host country. Plans of the Rotary Foundation program include: Creating a network of Rotarians through e-mail contacts to work within their club, district and beyond to educate others of the importance of GSE and what it means to the future of Rotary Promoting GSE wherever possible at district and international conventions, foundation seminars and anywhere Rotarians gather.
