IntroductionAfterourgraduationfromtheSouthwestSchoolofBibleStudiesinJuly2010,EmilyandIbeganpreparingforourreturntoNewZealandtoworkwiththeHamiltonchurchofChrist(HCOC)onafull-timebasis.PlansfortheHamiltonworkbeganin2008withtheirneedforafull-timepreacher.Withapproximately20members,theHamiltoncongregationcannotaffordtofinanciallysupportthefull-timepreacherthatitdesperatelyneeds.Itisforthisreasonthatwehumblyseekyoursupport.
The Mission FieldNewZealandisanindependentislandcountryintheSouthPacific,locatedabout1,000milessoutheastofAustraliawithapopulationof4.3millionandadensityof38peoplepersquaremile.NewZealand’sreligiouslandscapevarieswith55%Christian,35%NoReligion,and5%Non-ChristianReligion.OfthoseclaimingChristianity,mostareAnglican,RomanCatholic,Presbyterian,andMethodist.BrotherRodKyle,along-timeNewZealandevangelist,notesthatwinningsoulsinNewZealandisalmosttwiceasdifficultasitisinNorthAmerica.
ThecityofHamiltonisintheWaikatoregionoftheNorthIsland,approximately80milessouthofAuckland.Hamiltongrowsannually,and,accordingto2009estimates,hasanurbanpopulationof200thousandwithanadditional140thousandinruralareas. History of the Church in Hamilton
TheHamiltonchurchofChristwasestablishedintheearly1960swhenevangelistsRonColemanandDanJenkinssettledinthecitywiththeirfamilies.Severalfull-timeworkersfromtheU.S.workedwiththecongregation,eventuallybuildingtheirownmeetingplace.Thenalocalman,ChrisMurray,tookontheworkofpreachingandteaching.AfterChrisleft,theworkwascarriedonbyDemarElamandRichardHarp,twoAmericanevangelistswhocameinthelate1970s.Intheearly1980s,RexBanks,anativeKiwi,tookoverthework.Heleftin1994tobeginanewworkontheeastcoast.BrotherBanksreturnedfouryearslaterandcontinuestopreachandteachashissecularworkpermits.
Inthemid-1980sseveralmembersleftthechurchtobeginanewworkinHamiltonWest,wheretheycontinuemeetingtoday.

HCOChostsvisitingpreacherslikeTrevorMajorandMikeVestal.Wepromotetheseeventsthroughdoor-knocking,letter-boxing,andadvertisinginthelocaluniversitymagazine.
HCOCassistsothercongregationsinNewZealandthroughchurchplanting,campaignworkers,specialseminars,andsendingoutpreachers.
HCOChelpedestablishanewBibleschoolinthePhilippineswithDemarElamoftheOpen Door Ministry.
