Cathedral Stone Products, Inc. is dedicated to providing the appropriate materials to qualified and dedicated restoration professionals. Our materials have been thoroughly evaluated and tested to ensure that they are truly physically compatible with the structure to which they are being applied.

True compatibility means that the repairs will behave in the same manner as the structure, in essence becoming one with the structure. The repairs will expand and contract with the masonry, and will be breathable enough to allow water vapor and liquid water to escape to the surface. Therefore, the repair will not fail due to freeze/thaw cycles or salt re-crystallization.

Cathedral Stone Products introduced the first training program in the restoration trade in 1989, and has trained thousands of craftspeople in the proper application and finishing techniques of masonry restoration. As important to a project as using appropriate materials is the use of a qualified craftsman. Craftsmen should be dedicated and specifically trained in historic restoration and maintenance - there is no compromise.

Concrete Repair Mortar

These single-component, cementitious, mineral based repair mortars are designed for the restoration of concrete. Since Jahn M90 is engineered for compatibility, there are two separate formulations for horizontal and vertical applications. In this way, M90 achieves a superior chemical bond to concrete substrates. M90 contains no latex or acrylic bonding agents or additives, nor does it require the application of a bonding agent to achieve adhesion, so it remains vapor permeable. The mortar provides a healthy pH factor and strong resistance to carbonation, creat-ing an environment that does not allow corrosion to begin. The material can be applied in a single layer build-up for faster application and reduced installation costs. M90 is not damaged by salt crystallization, even when heavy concentrations are present. M90 provides a durable repair able to withstand severe environmental conditions and repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Historic Pointing Mortar

Jahn M110 Historic Pointing Mortars have been designed to be used where other mortars have failed. These sin-gle-component, cementitious, mineral based pointing mortars are specifically formulated for the restoration of limestone, sandstone and brick mortar joints. Jahn M110 contains no latex or acrylic bonding agents or additives, and is compatible with historic masonry. Each pointing mortar formula is designed to have a lower compressive strength than the surrounding masonry. These mortars perform well even in situations where previous methods and materials have failed due to repeated water and salt saturation. The material is completely vapor permeable and may be custom colored.

Product Highlights * Not affected by salts * No Shrinkage! * Factory Controlled: No field chemistry resulting in product variation. * Individually Formulated Mixes: Specific formulas for the restoration of limestone, sandstone and brick mortar joints and can be

adjusted for specific requirements. * Custom Colored Upon Request: Closely matches existing masonry. Choose from Standard or Custom Colors. * Compatible Formulations: Compatibility of physical properties ensures that the plaster and substrate react to the environment in

the same way.

Application ProceduresSurface PreparationJoints to receive M110 must be sound and free of all dust, dirt, grease, laitance and/or any other coating or foreign substance which may prevent proper adhesion. Remove all loose and deteriorated mortar. The minimum depth of mortar application is 1/4”. Rinse joints with clean water.

MixingThe mixing ratio is approximately 4 1/2 to 5 parts powder to 1 part water by volume, depending on temperature and humidity. More water may be required as ambient temperature rises. The mixing may be done by hand, stirring until the mortar is thoroughly mixed. For best results, add the powder to the water slowly. The working time will vary, depending upon wind, temperature, and humidity. Using excessive water in the mix may affect the color of the repair.

PointingMoisten the joint using clean water. If the surface is allowed to dry out before applying M110, this step must be repeated. This is very important. The mortar should be applied using appropriate pointing tools. Place the mortar into the joint so that it matches the original joint profile.

CuringPeriodically mist M110 joints using clean water for at least a 72 hour period. The timing for initial water misting will vary with ambient conditions. Hot, dry conditions may require misting within 30 to 60 minutes. Cooler, damp conditions may require waiting several hours before beginning the curing process. Mist several times a day. Should access to the repairs be impossible over a period of time, plastic may be used to cover them temporarily. The application of plastic, however, does not remove the need for normal curing techniques. Do not use water or solvents immediately after application to wash off excess mortar.

Glaze Repair for Terra Cotta and Brick

TerraCoat ClearCoat is a non-yellowing, water-based, acrylic coating that highlights the natural color of ma-sonry by providing a clear, semi-gloss sheen. The treatment does not alter the natural texture of the surface, nor significantly affect the vapor transmission qualities of the substrate. TerraCoat provides a durable finish to terra cotta and masonry surfaces.

Features and Benefits

* Water-Based Acrylic: For easier clean up. * Vapor Permeability Similar to Glazed Architectural Tiles * Tenacious Adhesion * Good Exterior Performance:Highly Abrasion-, Stain-, and Chemical- Resistant. * Application Procedures * Surface Preparation

Use Jahn M100 or M125 to repair the clay body of terra cotta tiles where necessary. The repair mortar must cure for 14 - 28 days before the application of TerraCoat Glaze Repair. Apply MASONRE® Coatings to the substrate and wait 24-48 hours before applying Terra Coat. The surface must be clean, dry and free of oil, grease and other contaminants.

Application

Mix well prior to application. Apply using airless paint spray equipment, brush or roller. When using an airless sprayer, use a 0.015 or 0.018 fan spray tip and reduce pressure to point of minimal misting or fogging to produce a wet application. Multiple applications may be necessary when applying to porous substrates or when a high gloss is desired; when this occurs, apply coats at right angles to each other with 4 to 6 hours between applications.

Curing Time

At 75° F (24 ° C): To touch 30 to 45 minutes. To handle: 2 to 3 hours. To recoat: 1 to 2 hours. Curing time varies with surface temperature, air movement, humidity and film thickness.

MasonRE® Latex 20 Waterless Poltice Cleaner

The masonRE Latex 20 is formulated with natural rubber and intended for the removal of heavy dirt and grime on limestone, sandstone, marble, concrete, plaster, brick and terra cotta. The product is designed for interior use on structures where adequate ventilation can be provided.

Features and Benefits * No water required * Brush or spray applied * Effective nicotine and soot removal * Application Procedures

Test AreaAlways prepare a test area prior to full application. This will indicate the time required for project completion and suitability of product for effective cleaning of the substrate. Additionally, specific jobsite consumption rates can be calculated after the test area is completed.

Equipment & ToolsThis product is engineered for airless spray or brush application. Use only airless equipment with chemical resis-tant packing. Equip the sprayer with a minimum tip size of 0.013 inches or 0.015 inches. (Example: a 413 or 515 tip). Larger tips may be used depending on airless pump capacity. Other equipment required: brushes, masking tape, plastic (polyethylene) sheet, which can be used for protecting surfaces not to be treated with masonRE Latex 20.

PreparationMASKING: Cover/protect areas where cleaning is not desired, including adjoining surfaces where over spray may travel. Plastic (polyethylene) sheets make a very effective barrier. Plants should be covered before and during application.

MIXING: If product has separated mix the masonRE Latex 20 with a drill. DO NOT SHAKE. DO NOT DILUTE.

EQUIPMENT: Ensure application equipment is free of any previously applied products or chemicals or solvents.

ApplicationApply a thick, even layer of masonRE Latex 20 onto the substrate to be cleaned. An airless sprayer is the most ef-fective means of application. Always start the sprayer pump at the lowest pressure setting and slowly build up the pressure until an adequate fan pattern has been generated. The minimum wet film thickness should be 62 mils (1/16 inch). If too little product is applied the removal of the latex film will be more difficult. Once applied, leave the product alone. When applying masonRE Latex 20 by brush, try to build a thick uniform layer to ensure ease of removal after film formation.
