The purpose of the event was to teach the students the benefits of advertising and make it a brand.

Jagran Institute of Management had organized a guest lecture on “Role of advertising in Brand Management” on 2nd November 2018 for the students of MCA & PGDM. The speaker for the lecture was Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, who is presently working with Synergy Group, Gurgaon as Sr .Manager Marketing.

He has a vast experience of more than a decade of handling, Media Buying /Client Servicing and Operations Management entailing Corporate Communication, Strategic Planning, Advertising, Experiential Marketing, Branding, Activation and Team Management, Vendor Management, PR, OOH, Radio campaign, newspaper ads, TV ads.

In this session, Mr. Sharma discussed the role of media that a part from imparting knowledge and connection the world, media serves another role; it spreads awareness about products and services, broadcasting the benefits of specific products and services, via advertising.

The role of advertising in media was dominated by print, radio& television the world around them in a way that they previously had not been able to do.

The World Wide Web, was invented, and it devised a virtual medium of software laid on top of the internet’s physical wiring structure, which has since enabled the

public to message, tweet, send and receive emails, photos and videos; and to interact with user sites such as Twitter, Face book and many others.

A typical advertisement will tell you what the service or product is, where it can be bought, for how much, by whom, and why it should be bought. This is possible through the power of the media to reach millions of people at the same time. He also discussed with the students about the concept of “build asset on your brand” by logos, music, & never let them go, as they help customers to remember your products.

Think of all the popular brands such as Coca-cola or Mc Donald’s. These brands are where they are today because they utilized the phenomenon of advertising well. Through constant republishing and replay to large groups of people, the media popularizes the brand. Many people see it multiple times, and it sticks in their heads. Eventually, when they see it out there, they will recognize it and are more likely to buy it. Ultimately, it can’t be denied that advertising in media is the fuel that drives global business.

Students interacted in the session with keen interest and raised questions. Students were very enthusiastic & energetic throughout the session. Dr. Nidhi Mathur, Assistant Professor JIM, felicitated Mr. Ashutosh Sharma for the Guest Lecture. Ms. Snehalata , PGDM student introduced the speaker and the topic of the lecture to the students. All the faculty members were present over there.
