Mr. Schlussel was educated in the school of “hard knocks”, never having sat in a classroom in his life. He was a shoe salesman in several of the largest department stores in this city until two years ago, when, by the exercise of prodigious energy and the burning of considerable “midnight oil, he schooled himself in the law sufficiently to pass the bar examinations with credit. Since that time his rise in his profession has been rapid, until today he is not only legal adviser to the Knights of America and several other social organizations, but he has built up a good civil practice of the “stay-out-of-court” kind. Mr. Schlussel has done considerable charitable work, both in criminal law and otherwise, since becoming an attorney, and is respected for his high standards of integrity and broad sympathy for his fellow man.
