JACK SPRAT
Hello,My name is Jack Sprat and I will be traveling with you through my Nursery Rhyme!
JACK SPRAT
Jack Sprat could eat no fat, His wife could eat no lean. And so between the two of them,They licked the platter clean.
Jack ate all the lean,Joan ate all the fat.The bone they picked clean,Then gave it to the cat.
Jack Sprat was wheeling, His wife by the ditch. The barrow turned over,And in she did pitch.
Says Jack, “She’ll be drowned”,
But Joan did reply.“I don’t think I shall,For the ditch is quite dry”.
JACK SPRAT HISTORY
This Nursery Rhyme is based off of the King Charles I and his wife Queen Henrietta Maria. When King Charles (Jack Sprat) declared war on Spain, parliament refused to give him money (leaving him lean). So his wife made an illegal war tax (to get some fat) after the angered King got rid of parliament.

RING AROUND THE ROSIE
Ring around the Rosie,
A pocket full of posies.
Ashes, Ashes,
We all fall down.
RING AROUND THE ROSIE HISTORYRing around the Rosie is a Nursery Rhyme that was
based off a poem on the plague of 1665. The parts of the Nursery Rhyme refer to many things about the black plague. For example “Rosie” refers to the rash that was a symptom of the plague. “Posies” were herbs thought to ward off the disease so people would “carry them in their pockets. “Lastly, the “Ashes, Ashes we all fall down” refers to the deaths of the sick people.
FUN FACT
Today, Ring around the Rosie, is a game played by children of all ages where they twirl around in a circle while singing the Nursery Rhyme and at the end they would all fall down.
