PROFILE

The Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports

University was established by an Act of the Tamil Nadu

Legislative Assembly in 2004 to achieve the following

objectives. It is unique and first of its kind in India started

as an affiliatory University, exclusively for promoting

excellence in Physical Education and Sports, after obtaining

the accent from His Excellency the President of India on

04.08.2005. The University started functioning from

15th September 2005 onwards.

ADMISSION CONFIRMATION• After scrutinizing the documents, the Directorate shall confirm

Admission to the eligible candidates; assign Register Number, issueAdmission letter and Identity Card.

• Students are instructed to keep the Identity Card in safe custody tillthey complete the programme. Once the candidate is admitted,his/her registration is valid for the entire period of study, subject tothe payment of course fee for the respective year.

PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME

The personal contact programme will be conducted in two spellsof classes for a minimum duration of 50 hours for Theory papersand 100 hours for programme involving both theory and practicalsin a year. Students should make their own arrangement for theirboarding and lodging at the centre’s where PCP’s are held.

A circular of details of date, venue and time for the PersonalContact Programmes for the academic year will be sent tocentres. Study Centre will intimate all the particulars to theStudents prior notice

ADMISSIONThe Candidate may seek admission either directly to the

University or through any one of the approved Study Centers of anUniversity. The list of Approved Study Centre is given in theUniversity Website www.tnpesu.org

If the Candidates enroll directly with the University, theCourse Materials shall be directly sent to them and they have toattend the Contact Classes.

If the candidates enroll through Study Centers, the CourseMaterials shall be sent through the Study Centers and studentshave to attend the Contact Classes arranged by the Study Centersat their places.

DIRECT ADMISSION WITH THE UNIVERSITYThe following documents are to be enclosed along with the

filled-in applications:The original Certificates of HSC / Diploma Certificate or Degreeor Provisional Certificate and a Copy attested by the GazettedOfficer. (Original Certificates will be returned immediately afterverification).Identity Card: Student will be issued Identity Card by theDirectorate or Study Centres after their admission. Students areinstructed to keep their Identity Card safely till the completionof the Programme and must bring their Identity Card at the timeof Personal Contact Programme (PCP) and Examinations.Demand Draft for the prescribed total fee drawn in favour of“The Director, DDE, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and SportsUniversity”, payable at Chennai (Refer to Annexure- I for feedetails).The Directorate will not issue any Transfer Certificate. Only thosestudents who attended the contact programme are eligible to sit for theexamination. The practical classes will be conducted in the respectiveCentre’s. under any circumstances.12. Applicants should fill-up the application form and Student Indentify

Card in block letters in his/her own handwriting and duly sign inthe space provided.

13. Incomplete applications and over-written applications will berejected.

14. Admission cannot be claimed as a matter of right.15. Before dispatching the application to the Directorate the applicant

should make note of the application number.16. Whenever the candidate corresponds with the Directorate, he/

she has to quote his/her Enrolment Number, the programme andthe Study Centre through whom they have enrolled.

17. No candidate shall register for two Programmes in the Directoratein the same year.

18. The University reserves the right not to conduct any of theProgrammes if the circumstances so warrant.

19. If the certificate submitted by the applicant is in any languageother than English / Tamil, an English version of the Certificate,duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should be enclosed failingwhich such certificate will not be considered.

20. In case of Certificates/Degree of Foreign Educational institutions,such Institution must be the Members of Association IndianUniversities or Commonwealth Universities.

EXAMINATIONS:

1. Candidates are instructed to read the following instructionsrelating to examinations carefully and take note of the specialinstructions relating to examinations.

2. The annual University Examination will be conducted in the monthof May every year for all the Programme.

3. Examination application form will be uploaded in the universitywebsite during the month of February/March by the Controller ofExamination.

4. The candidates can download the examination applications formand submit the duly filled- in form along with all necessary enclosuresbefore the due date to the Controller of Examination.

5. The Examination fee to be paid in the form of Demand Draft to bedrawn in favour of “The Registrar, TNPESU, payable at Chennaifrom any nationalized bank.

6. While submitting the filled-in application for examination,enclose the Photo copy of the fee Demand Draft (DD) towardsthe tuition fee paid. Otherwise, applications will not beregistered for the examinations.

7. The examinations are conducted at various centres furnished in theexamination application appended to this prospectus. 9. The ID card issued by the DDE should be produced at theExamination Centre both for obtaining the hall ticket and for takingthe examinations. No other ID card will be accepted for taking theexaminations.

10. Minimum 50% of the marks should be secured in the Universityexaminations (external examination) for a final pass in all degreeand PG. Diploma courses.
