Foundation Paper Piecing is a very

accurate way to piece detailed or

tiny blocks. Join Gloria and learn

the basics. Session: One 3-hr class

Beginner Appliqué: (B)

Teacher: Gloria

Learn the basics of machine appliqué &

hand appliqué. You will be practicing

on basic shapes, learning how to turn

corners, deal with points and under-

standing what your machine can do

with machine appliqué. Both the inter-

facing and fusible web method will be

introduced. In hand appliqué, learn the

popular freezer paper method, as well

as the use of interfacing. When you

complete this class, you will have the

skills to finish other appliqué projects.

day February 23 & March 1 1:30p.m.-

Binding Class: (B)

Teacher: Leslie Want to learn all the tips and tricks for bind-

ing quilts and projects? Then this is the class

you just can’t miss. Leslie will teach you the

traditional binding technique plus…. Shhh…

her cheater version. You will also learn a few

other binding methods, as well as hanging

sleeves, labels, info on appraisals and pretty

much anything else you were afraid to ask

about finishing off your projects. You will

bring one of your smaller unbound quilts or

runners and work on the binding techniques

in class. A great opportunity to learn how to

finish off all your projects with flare. Session:

You’ll Always Be My Baby...: (B)

Teacher: Leslie Calling all moms....can't part with all the wonderful memo-

ries associated with newborn sleepers, bibs, first t-shirts

and special outfits.....save all the little memories in an

adorable baby quilt that can also be highlighted with the

baby's name, birthdate, weight etc. The possibilities are

limitless. What a fabulous keepsake. You will learn how to

layout the quilt based on the items you

have, hand embroider, appliqué or ma-

chine embroider the details and learn how

to put it all together. If time permits, Leslie

will get you started on quilting the quilt

with your machine. Session: Three 3-hr

with a clean outer look

that can be casual or

dressy. This bag has

pockets to hold pens, phone, glasses and even an

e-reader. You will learn bag assembly skills,

inserting a zipper and how to make classy look-

ing handles. These are skills transferable to any

other bag. So, get out your fabric and start plan-

the finished product which finishes

the quilt beautifully. Students

Next Steps in Sewing… Flatlock Tunic: (I)

This intermediate level top is a fun way to learn more about your serger.

Never used a serger? Try one of ours! Contrast fabrics are joined together

with a flatlock seam or twin needle topstitching if

you don’t own a serger. Make minor alterations to

your pattern if needed. Learn creative ways to join

fabric. Create your own individual look using prints

for contrast or plain fabrics of complimentary or

contrasting colour. Session: Two 3-hr classes Dates:

Make one of these & be ready for Spring. Use

a light to medium knit, boiled wool, or choose

a water repellant fabric with the hooded ver-

sion. Can be sewn with serger or sewing ma-

chine. Learn to handle sweater knits or rain-

wear, what seam finishes to use on these fabrics. Project is suita-

ble for all sewing levels. Session: One 6-hr class Date: Saturday

Learn pattern selection, fabric

selection, correct sizing, laying out

layout, cutting & marking methods, correct

sizing with BASIC alterations will be shown.

dence to advance to other necklines & de-

What To Bring To Each Class: Please bring a basic sewing kit to all classes. This includes : sewing machine, pins, scissors, a seam ripper, pencil, paper, cotton thread, ruler, rotary cutter, etc.

Class Registration Policy: Payment in full is required at the time of registration. This will guar-antee your place in class. It is your re-sponsibility to get any class handouts for requirements and pre-class homework if applicable. Please note most of our classes do require some homework for you to

Are you looking for a wonderful group of ladies to quilt and improve your skills with? I have a great

suggestion. The community quilters meet on the

third Saturday of every month and we make beau-

tiful quilts! Come and join us for the day, half the day or even an hour. I guarantee you will be made

to feel welcome no matter what your skill level.

If meeting on a Saturday is not convenient we will

be making up some ‘Grab Bags’ of fabric. Come and pick up a bag and then make the quilt top of

your choice!

Community Outreach... All our quilts are donated to less fortunate people in the Niagara community. So it really is a ‘win/win ‘

situation. You do something you love doing and

someone who doesn’t feel loved, gets wrapped in

warmth.
