The JCC hosted its annual Procurement Seminar on June 28, 2016 at the Knutsford Court Hotel. The half-day seminar targeted firms interested in providing goods, services or works to the GoJ’s Ministries, Departments or Agencies, as well as to public sector enes throughout CARICOM, and to the US$ mul -billion UN Global Marketplace (UNGM). The seminar featured an expert team of presenters drawn from The Procurement & Asset Policy Unit, Ministry of Finance & the Public Service; The CARICOM Secretariat; and The UN Procurement Office (NY). Public Sector Procurement, as you may know, is big business! Many firms consider the public sector to be one of their biggest markets for their goods, services and works and esmates are that on average, procurement by the government and its agencies and departments amounts to approx. 30% of Jamaica’s GDP. During the Seminar parcipants had the opportunity to register on the UN’s procurement system, assess tender requests and subscribe to receive nofica- ons of upcoming tenders in the areas of parcular interest for their firms. Based on feedback at the event parcipants found the seminar to be of great value to both large firms and MSMEs. The Opening Remarks were delivered by Hon. JCC 2016 PROCUREMENT SEMINAR... A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!

The JCC hosted its annual Procurement Seminar on June 28, 2016 at the Knutsford Court Hotel. The half-day seminar targeted firms interested in providing goods, services or works to the GoJ’s Ministries, Departments or Agencies, as well as to public sector entities throughout CARICOM, and to the US$ multi-billion UN Global Marketplace (UNGM). The seminar featured an expert team of presenters drawn from The Procurement & Asset Policy Unit, Ministry of Finance & the Public Service; The CARICOM Secretariat; and The UN Procurement Office (NY).

Public Sector Procurement, as you may know, is big business! Many firms consider the public sector to be one of their biggest markets for their goods, services and works and estimates are that on average, procurement by the government and its agencies and departments amounts to approx. 30% of Jamaica’s GDP.

During the Seminar participants had the opportunity to register on the UN’s procurement system, assess tender requests and subscribe to receive notifica-tions of upcoming tenders in the areas of particular interest for their firms.

Based on feedback at the event participants found the seminar to be of great value to both large firms and MSMEs.

The Opening Remarks were delivered by Hon. Fayval Williams, MP, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance & the Public Service, pictured above in conversation with JCC President Warren McDonald.

NWC invites Stakeholders to Sensitization Presentation

NWC is inviting members of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce to participate in a Stakeholder Sensitization Presentation Session on the NWC’s major 5-year Kingston & St. Andrew (KSA) Non Revenue Water (NRW) Reduction Co-Management Programme on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Knutsford Court Hotel starting at 4:00 p.m.

As you may be aware, following the requisite procurement and selection process, the National Water Commission has commenced a US$42.5M Contract to establish within the KSA a sustainable non-revenue water management programme to deliver the long-term NRW reduction targets and objectives of the NWC. The KSA NRW intervention is expected to transform many aspects of the NWCs operations in the Corporate Area and contribute even more meaningfully to economic growth and development. The NWC is hosting this Stakeholder Sensitization Presentation in order to keep their stakeholders informed and to communicate the targets and plans of the project to critical target audiences.
