MARCH 31, 2015 TOMPKINSMINISTRY.COM Meet Thembelani I met Thembelani at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). He shared with me a little about his life and I shared the Gospel with him. As we talked more he revealed that he grew up in religious practice known as Ancestral Worship—this is very prevalent in townships among black South Africans. The more we talked the more he knew that he needed to put his faith in Jesus Christ, so we prayed and he put his faith in Jesus! Since then we have had a weekly bible study. He recently shared that he told his family about his decision. Surprisingly they were very accepting, but they do not want him to loose his culture. I am praying that he would continue to grow and be able to lead his family to Christ. 1 IZZY AT CPUT CPUT campuses are historically black campuses NEWSLETTER

Partnerships One of my roles here on the team is help lead our catalytic ministry, which is a way to launch new movements through distant coaching. Recently our team scouted 50 campuses for potential new ministry all across across the Western Province. Our prayer during this time was that we would find someone at each campus that would be a leader. As well as find a campus ministry that we would be able to help resource and or encourage.

This was truly one of the most inspiring times of my ministry life. Of the 50 campuses we will pursue 19 new campuses to launch new ministries. Our summer mission team is coming in June for 5 weeks and we will have the team spend the summer on these campuses. We will be praying that during that time will be able to find leaders to carry on the ministry after the mission team leaves.

Another amazing partnership that the Lord has allowed us to develop is with the Cape Town Baptist Seminary. They are giving us a team of 5 to work with us in May. Our prayer is to challenge them to intern with us next term. This is what we were praying for before we left home. That the Lord would provide South Africans to lead the ministry. God is absolutely working here on this amazing continent!

FamilyThings have been going well, Andrea with one small exception—I broke my big toe, trying to move a treadmill. It is an open fracture, so the doctor said if it doesn’t start to heal on its own I may need surgery. So, I am praying that it will heal naturally! On a mother note, we are looking at a potential preschool for Izzy. Andrea and I will go visit the school in a few weeks. It has become very clear that Izzy really needs to be around other kids.
