IWLA-Canada’s 2016 Fall Conference follows in the

path of its predecessors showcasing the best in

thinking for the future of warehousing and logistics.

Our two presenters – Joe Couto of HighJump and

Keith Gouveia of Lowe’s Canada – will each present

a view of the current state of practice and provide a

direction for the future.

In the past 10 years, we have witnessed incredible

changes in warehouse technology, software,

technique, material handling and personnel. But what

can we expect in the next 10? New forces are driving

the direction for the warehouses of the future. In the

past few years we have seen increasing numbers of

consumers shopping online for everything from

groceries to cars. And we have seen retailers of all

types working to meet these new demands. In the

process, retailers are looking more and more to

third-party warehousing and logistics companies to

help fulfill the orders. Partnerships are being formed;

the dividing line between retailer and service-provider

is becoming ever more blurred. Joe Couto, Chief

Operating Officer, Logistics for HighJump, will take a

look at the current state of warehousing and logistics

practice and discuss some possibilities for the future

– technologies, techniques, personnel and equipment.

No matter what the future brings, there are building

blocks you need to develop now to lay the foundation

for your future operations.

What does it take to succeed in today’s competitive

home improvement marketplace and to prosper in the

future? Keith Gouveia, Regional Transportation

Manager at Lowe’s Canada, will discuss a few of the

logistics and transportation tools that companies

employ in Canada to drive their success. His

presentation will include his perspective on systems,

labour, transportation and warehousing that will

enable the retailer of the future to meet the needs of

the customer of the future. It’s an environment where

omni-channel and showcasing define a retailer’s

competitive position.

Join us for what promises to be a session that’s full

of useful and useable ideas and that still provides

time for networking.
