MEET THE STAFF BY DAN LEWINGTON (GB-SOAC)

My name is Dan Lewington and I am the current Special Operations Assistant Coordinator for the United Kingdom and Ireland Division. I joined IVAO in 2012 along with many of my fellow Virtual Ministry of Defence Pilots and I have loved every minute of my time

here.

On IVAO, I am also an MTL Designer, meaning that I am responsible for maintaining the IVAO MTL Library and the MTL Catalogue. Outside IVAO I am a member of the Air Cadets, and have been for 5 years. During my time in the cadets, I have had the opportunity to fly in UK military aircraft such as the Chinook, Tutor and C-17. In September, I am due to start a degree in Aerospace Materials at the University of Sheffield and I hope to join the Royal Air Force in the

future.

Welcome to the September issue to Airways Magazine.

We had a great August with the City Challenger, where members were able to test their skills by departing and landing at London City Airport. This shown to be a very popular event and full ATC

coverage was given by a team of staff and members.

Throughout the next couple of months, IVAO United Kingdom & Ireland are looking to be very busy with the second Real Flight Event of this year and also an number of other events throughout

the months to come.

I would also like to congratulate our new Training Advisor 7, Wilm Hendrik Schulz, good luck in your new role.

DESTINATION GUIDE BY DANNY RICHMOND (GB-MAC) Newcastle International Airport (EGNT) is the 10th busiest airport in the United Kingdom. The airport firstly opened in 1935 as Woolsington Aerodrome which incorporated a clubhouse, hangar, workshops, fuel garage and grass runway, a big change to what it is today: Main Terminal, GA Apron, 2,329m Asphalt Runway (07/25) with Cat III ILS. The airport has 26 passenger stands and 3 Freight stands and manages around 4.46 million passengers a year. It has numerous airlines operating through Newcastle such as: KLM, Air France, British Airways, Flybe, Ryanair etc. and fly’s to 72 different destination. Its furthest destination is Dubai flown by Emirates. On the IVAO network, has the ability to be controller without practical training. EVENTS UPDATE BY ALEXANDER CLOVER (GB-EC) Coming into the final part of the year IVAO UK and Ireland are pleased to announce that we will be holding another RFE which will be on the 1st November 2014; the details of the RFE will be released in due course. With just over 300 flights available I suggest that you should keep the date clear. Coming back to events in September IVAO UK and Ireland are pleased to announce an event which is different from any other events. On the 17th September 2014, IVAO UK and Ireland members will be staffing three airports for your delight. Pilots are invited to fly between the following airports; EGLL, EGNT and EICK. Pilots are free to start and finish at any of the airports staffed for the event. Routes are; EGLL-EGNT-EICK-EGLL EGLL-EICK-EGNT-EGLL Or EGNT-EGLL-EICK-EGNT EGNT-EICK-EGLL-EGNT Or EICK-EGLL-EGNT-EICK EICK-EGNT-EGLL-EICK We hope to see you there for a very unique event.
