If these sound stages could talk! Sunset Studios has been home to many of television’s most successful shows and award-winning movies. Today, we bring together a diverse and unique mix of innovative creative companies and content creators in an independent, boutique studio environment.
We’ve made history, now it’s your turn.
1918 The creative minds of Jack Cohn, Harry Cohn and Joe Brandt joined forces to start their very own production company (CBC) at a location on Sunset Boulevard, now known as Sunset Gower Studios.
1919 Sam, Jack, Albert and Harry Warner purchase a vacant farm on Sunset Boulevard as the first home to Warner Bros. Studios, and now known as Sunset Bronson Studios.
1919 Three production stages and several bungalows are built on 16.5 acres of undeveloped land in Hollywood and named Hollywood Studios, Inc. Among the early tenants were up-and-coming tycoon Howard Hughes, Charlie Chaplin’s United Artists, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and D.W. Griffith. Hollywood Studios, Inc. would later be known as Sunset Las Palmas.
1927 The Old Warner Brothers Studio, officially Sunset Bronson Studios today, is home to the very first talking feature film, The Jazz Singer, starring Al Jolson.
1938 - 1970 CBC becomes Columbia Pictures Corporation and catapults to success with the 1934 production and release of Frank Capra’s It Happened One Night. In addition to producing groundbreaking films such as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Lady from Shanghai and Gidget, it was the contracting of major stars such as Rita Hayworth, Spencer Tracy and others that contributed to Columbia’s reputation.
1951 Sunset Las Palmas’ Stage 2 becomes home to I Love Lucy, the first-ever primetime comedy produced before a live studio audience on the West Coast.
1970 - 2000 In Hollywood’s new era, the lots become independent production destinations and home to many successful shows such as Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie as well as fan favorites including Jeopardy, Saved by the Bell, The Golden Girls and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
2007 - Present Day Hudson Pacific Properties purchases all three lots and re-brands them as Sunset Studios. To this day, television and film history continues to be made by entertainment and industry leaders including Netflix, ABC and Comedy Central.
Everything you need, and even more of what you want.
There’s a reason Sunset Studios has the most desirable production lots in Hollywood. It’s because our unsurpassed sound and production facilities cater to a wide variety of needs, ranging across film, TV, digital and live events.
Our production services have a long-standing, simple philosophy: nothing should pull your focus away from what you’re doing. Your needs take center stage. We know that when you feel totally taken care of and are laser-focused, the magic happens.

What's old is new again. Greenhouse-like stages once provided ample light for indoor shooting of classic film and tv, which inspired Harlow, a new creative office development that harkens back to those light-filled stages. From the start of classic television such as I Love Lucy, to today’s cutting edge productions, the lot provides the perfect environment in which to create the next big thing.
